Default White Sox/Astros, the official world series thread

Ryan, I'm not trying to steal your thread here but I figured it kinda got buried on a back page so I'd do this one for the series. My pick: White Sox in 7. Both Teams have outstanding pitching, but I whink the Sox have just a bit of an edge. The closer is no contest, Brad Lidge all the way. And I'm not sure why all these sports geniuses are making light of the Astros lineup. HELLO, Lance Berkman anyone? he's just as good a power hitter as Konerko as far as I'm concerned. I'm just sooooo excited about these pitching matchups. Gimme a good tight 2-1 pitching duel anyday. I'm so damn tired of all these roid freaks and their home runs and 10-9 games.

Exclamation I've noticed...

that national sports news outlets are giving the Astros no chance of winning this series...Interesting, I remember 2 of the best series in recent memory were ones won by teams that entered as the complete underdogs:

1991-Twins (Choking the Braves)
1996-Yankees (Again, Choking the Braves)

I want to see 15-2 & 13-0 type scores with 4 straight wins by the Astros.

Me too. I love great pitching, which has been sorely missed for the last decade or so because of the steroid situation. Both of these teams have fantastic pitching. I'll go with the White Sox to win. I really don't want Houston to win because they just barely edged out the Phillies to get the wild card. I also think it's great to see a World Series without the Yankess or the Red Sox for once.

Dont forget the '87 Twins too. They were only 85-77, and they beat the Cardinals that year. Dont get me started on Whitey Herzog either. All he did during that entire series is disrespect the Twins and how they didnt belong there with that record and our ballpark was a joke, we wouldve won if we had Jack Clark BLAH BLAH BLAH. You know WHitey, there's a line from A Few Good Men that Jack Nicholson said called "YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!" I find it to be very appropriate in your case. Either get the job done and prove your better or SHUT UP!!

Cardinal ass kicking I enjoyed more, The 87 Twins or the 85 Royals...Whitey got shut up twice within 2 years.

White Sox in 6. I just don't think the stros will pull if off this year. I'm truthfully amazed they even made the playoffs. After last year, I thought they would lose so much of the team they would have a chance. They'll make 6 games, but the Monster offense that is Chicago will push them over the edge.

Yeah, but Don Denkinger stole it from the Cardinals in the 9th inning of game 6 though. Still dont feel sorry for him, but he had a gripe there.
