Default KT Tunstall Appreciation

UK Ledgies probably know this songer-songwriter. But here in Canada, she's just starting to get air time on radio with "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree." I love what I've heard - so I Googled her... This might explain it...

From her bio:

KT Tunstall is a sparkling new songwriter with Chinese blood, a Scottish heart, great legwarmers and a cool name - "well, it's got a bit more attitude than Kate which just says farmer's daughter to me," she laughs. KT celebrates classic singer-songwriting in the tradition of Rikki Lee Jones, Carol King and Fleetwood Mac with an articulate, accessible, immediate brew of rootsy sass, wistful quandary and after-hours atmosphere. The latest in a line of outstanding contemporary Scottish songwriters including Texas, Fran Healy, Teenage Fanclub and The Beta Band, KT's unique perspective offers a rare emotionally connecting intensity through it's gripping lyrical bite and heartfelt melody.

If anyone wants to have a listen, check out this site and watch the video for Black Horse and a Cherry Tree. She kicks some major a$$.

She seems good, I can't listen, though. I'll find it somewhere else, thanks for the alert!

I'm listening to more of her live - on a site called Iceberg Radio. http://www.icebergradio.com/exclusive/kttunstall/

It's a performance she actually did here in Toronto about a month ago. Wish I'd have known about her then. She's fabulous. I'm loving her voice.

I really like the song called "Other Side Of The World". That's an excellent tune...

Pip likes her too.

I just never normally like anything new but KT Tunstall is really really good. I saw her a year or so ago on the Jools Holland show here in the UK doing 'Black Horse and a Cherry Tree' all on her own, and you could just tell she was a bit special. It's so unusual to see anything a bit original these days. 'Suddenly I See' is also a great tune - her voice is just so nice

I completely agree. When I saw that "favourite albums of 2005" thread, I was like, I don't think I've bought an album yet this year! (Not true - bought Coldplay X&Y) But KT is so talented, eh? I was watching some video of her performing live last night and she blew me away. I love "Other Side of the World," too. For the first time in a while, I'm looking forward to buying a new CD!
