I recently learned that when Jon Bon Jovi first presented this song to
her, she didn't like it very much. Can't figure that out - any ideas?
Seems to me it was very "apro po," especially the video.
Maybe it was a little too close to the bone???

OMG THIS IS MY FAVORITE STEVIE SONG OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this song probably speaks for many people. This was the first stevie song I ever heard. And I connected to it first time I heard it and I cried.

SmileAtU · #6 10-04-2005, 06:02 PM

I have always liked it. Then again, I adore Jon Bon Jovi.

Sorry, I can't stand it, the lyrics are really awful, Bon Jovi should have kept his castles of candy for himself, IMO.

That makes me sad These lyrics speak the words of my life. Everything that I have been through. My battle wounds, my ups and downs, my darkest hours. And of my good, that sometimes i can feel like i can sore like an eagle and all my worries are gone. they are also the words of Stevie's life too.

I think those lyrics use the most superficial and conventional way to speak the words of many people's lives, mine included. The facts and emotions are there but sometimes it's a bad soap opera, sometimes its Rumours or Bella Donna, or Trouble In Shangri-La.

I can't tell based on your posts, but did you know Stevie didn't write those words? They're written by Jon Bon Jovi.

Yeah I do know Bon Jovi wrote those lyrics....I Love bon jovi too. But It makes me mad and sad that this is an "appreciation" thread and Serrart says its aweful....this songs is very special to me. And it hurts my feeling that u say that. Now I don;t sound very grown up....lol But i am 15 and I have very sensitive feelings.

Yes, you're right, I did it without thinking it was an appreciation thread. My apologies.

There was a time when I really liked this song... and then a time when I really didn't.
I'm back to liking it again.

I think that if it had been recorded and released maybe about five years earlier, when everything Jon Bon Jovi touched was as good as gold, it would have been a huge hit.
