Default "It's funny because...

.... it's live."

Did anyone else see Will and Grace last night? The episode itself wasn't hilariously funny, but it was live - and in the show that played to the eastern time zone, Debra Messing cracked up at least 3 or 4 times. It was really funny. Once, Sean Hayes started laughing, too. It was so refreshing. Also, made me really respect what the casts of like, All in the Family, and other shows of that era did every week!

It was great - reminded me of the Carol Burnett show when she and Harvey Korman and Tim Conway and whoever, would crack up like that.

I also loved Alec Baldwin's DeLay dig..."I have to go help a new client shred some documents...of course I can't say who it is, but I'd better hurry so I'm not De-LAYED." Something like that....hilarious!

BTW, I'm surprised no one here has started a "DeLay Indicted" thread yet...

OMG - and the George Bush line!!

Grace: "I'm just going to close my eyes and do whatever I want. Oh, look! I'm George Bush!"

Apparently, that was an ad lib that she did because she knew they were live. And she did it again for the west coast show.

I totally loved this - they could have hyped this much more. I had no idea until I turned it on that it was going to be live live live. i wonder if they were worried or something. But I thought it was really cool - very unpolished and loose. But still, really well done. I hope they do more of these this season. Maybe they'll start a new trend!

I appreciated the fact that it was live, but it wasn't a great episode. Probably just because of the constraints of not being able to switch stages easily, etc.

But there were some great jokes. The ones mentioned previously, plus the joke about Alec Baldwin's sack of ice cream sandwiches:

Will: "Your package is dripping!"
Alec: "I can't help it - she's a very attractive woman!"

And still praying for the "Jack & Karen" spinoff, WITHOUT Will & Grace.

Exactly. The Golden Girls is one of the shows who also filmed in front of a real audience; although they didn't do it every show. It is so hard to keep a straight face.

It was truly hard to keep a straight face watching them laughing, too! As Nixxed said, it wasn't the best episode. But watching them lose it a few times made it all worth it.

Crap. I'm in love with his funnyness.
You must see his episode of Nip/Tuck. You haven't lived until you've seen him reconstruct Famke Janssen's vagina and castrate a lily.
