It's good, but I prefer Rosebud.

Oh, yes. No argument from me on this. The Rosebud version is really good too, as is the one performed on Midnight Special. I loved her hair in that video!

No worries. There was a one hour documentary-type film made in 1975 or 76 & I think the production company (or something like that) was named Rosebud. It has what may consider to be the definitive Rhiannon.

I'll check my computer & see if I have the audio to send you if you'd like.

To be honest, I never really liked that one. I much prefer the one on the Live CD.

I would have to say the version on Live. The Midnight Special is a good one too and I'm quite fond of the first performance in Tuscaloosa.

I was 12 years old and in my living room when Helen Reddy introduced FM and "Rhiannon" on the Midnight Special and was blown away...that was one of the first initial waves of "whatever it is, this lady has it in spades" moments that I had with Stevie. So, I would say that, for me, this is THE version that I adore. And to the post about her hair - RIGHT ON! LOL

That being said, when Stevie did STORYTELLERS, I was completely blown away by the solo at the piano version. It was intimate, vulnerable and off kilter, which made it very dramatic. Awesome performance.

I love how Stevie always says this is the first song that she plays at the piano...

Because all the versions of Rhiannon are so different in their own way, its hard to pick... i would agree that the Midnight Special performance is awesome i LOVE the echos from the mic when she sings, wish she'd bring that back, it makes the song more haunting. Rosebud & Live are also two of my favs.... i do prefer the old Rhiannons to the new ones, they just seem to knock me out more & even scare me a little.

Rosebud is probably the best but I do like the Live 80 version because it has a great concert feel to it. I do also like the storytellers version, I was so proud of her doing that.
