Default The Sundays

Here's another of my personal Favorite bands. I've been listening to them since '89, when they started. Harriet Wheeler has one of the most beautiful voices, very gentle and easy to listen to. It just sucks that they only have 3 albums out, becuase in my opinion they are all excellent. Anyone that's never heard of them reall should check them out. I dont think You'll be dissapointed, but I could be wrong. Incidentally, here's a list of their albums and when they came out:

1990-Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic

1992-Blind (Excellent cover of Wild Horses by the Stones on the album)

1997-Static and Silence

It would be interesting to see how many people have even heard of them, because most people I ask never have They are all ver nice too, since I had a chacne to meet them and have them sign a poster of theirs I have when they played First Avenue here in Minneapolis in 1997. They let mt watch their sound check too. That was cool, being like the only person in the place bessides their crew watching that.

I LOVE the Sundays. Static & Silence is my favourite album of theirs...but all 3 albums are pretty amazing.
That's great that you got to meet them too! what a nice remembrance.
I always remember Summertime being a big hit in 1997 this side of the water,it still gets airplay even 8 years later. It'd be brilliant if they emerged with new material though..they're sorely missed.

I've got all three albums, though I don't know if I've ever actually listened to the last one.

REALLY like the first two though. Just about all of the first one. "Medicine" off of Blind has some real specific associations for me. Harriet's voice is just wonderful! Did they just break up and drift off into nothingness?

I love the Sundays and I have Blind (which I don't listen to that much) and Static and Silence (which gets much more play). I love so many songs on S&S, and I occasionally hear tracks from S&S at stores and restaurants when I go out. I heard "She" at a Victoria's Secret once!

their first album is still regularly in my player. Bought it in 1990. Great album. but somehow I always have the feeling that 1 great album of that band is enough for my collection.....

Another great couple of songs are On Earth off Blind and Monochrome from S&S. When I met them, they had they loveliest accents, so British and so friendly I also REALLY wish they'd release some new material. I look at it this way. When S&S came out, it had been 5 years since Blind, and they didnt miss a beat. I know I've read in some interviews that they are just as happy living where they are as they are making music and being on the road. There are some people that really gat what's it's all about. They can take their fame or leave it. It makes them all the more enduring to me. Incidentally, Harriet Wheeler and the lead guitar player David Gauvrin are married and have 2 children.
