Default They Took My Baby

I'm sitting here, a bawling mess, and I took the day off of work because my Sara started 1st grade today. It is her first day, in a new school, riding a bus, and I'm devistated. Why do they have to grow up so fast???

She's beautiful! And she looks excited to be going to first grade. It's hard, isn't it? My daughter starts first grade next month, and even though she's gone to all-day pre-k and kindergarten, it's going to be hard to just watch her drive away in the school bus. I'm used to driving her to school, chatting with the teacher, knowing all the kids.
They grow up so fast....

Let us know how her first day went....

Carol

I was almost afraid to open the thread when I saw the title.
She looks excited to be going to school.
Mine starts her senior year on Thursday.

I'm sorry, I being over-the-top.... but I'm really hurt. (pathetic, isn't it??) And I don't believe that yours will be starting her senior year. I'm still astounded that you're old enough to have an 18 year old!

No, I think it's normal. It's good that you're trying to make the most of every moment though.
Now I have to go before I start crying.

Ah Maria - you're not pathetic...and I, too, was a bit apprehensive about opening the thread...

But then my first thought was actually, "Maybe the dingo ate your baby"

Anyway - I'm be anxious to hear all about Sara's first day of the first grade!!

LMAO! This is the first laugh I've had this morning. Thank you! (I just found out Stevie's dad passed, too, so I'm having a pretty blue morning. I think it's PMS time the way I've been bawling today.... )

I don't think you're being over-the-top at all, Maria, I can imagine that I would be the same way. I hope her first day goes well!

And best of luck to yours starting her senior year, too, Chris.

She's adorable! How old is she? Ours start school at 4 over here but we don't have to put them on the bus. I have many years of taking mine to school!

Thank you! She is 6. She was in Kindergarten last year, but it was a daycare/Kindertarden, and I took her daily before I went to work. Plus, it was very small and very personal for the children. So, her going to a big school on a big bus has me very nervous. I just called the school to make sure she made it O.K. (over-the-top; pathetic! LOL...) She's there, safe and sound, and I won't have to worry until 4:00 when she rides the bus home!

Talking You should be proud...

that your child has started school...I know my Mom shed tears when I started school, But I was the one, In the end, who was shedding the tears when I found out I still had another 12 years of it

That's not over the top or pathetic at all! Mine starts kindergarten next year, and I'm already an emotional basketcase just thinking about it! So I can definitely relate to what you're going through.

Thank you. Yes it is hard. I'm still on here 2 hours later crying about it. That's how her kindergarten was... I knew the teachers pretty well, and I knew all the children. To them, I am "Sara's mom". Every day, I took her to school, the kids would come up, hug me, say "Hi Sara's mom".. it was so cute!!!

Aww, she's adorable!!!

My mom used to do the same thing with me, especially since I'm an only child. Now, I'll be a senior in high school and she tells me she goes out and dances in the street on my first day of school!
