Default Bush appoints Bolton as U.N. ambassador

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/08/...ent/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush on Monday used a recess appointment to name John Bolton the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

"This post is too important to leave vacant any longer," Bush said.

Senate Democrats had blocked Bolton's nomination in a dispute over documents amid accusations that Bolton doesn't have the temperament for the nation's top U.N. post.

Under the Constitution, the president has the power to make temporary appointments without Senate confirmation when Congress goes into recess. Lawmakers began their current break on Friday.

The recess appointment puts Bolton at the United Nations until at least January 2007.

No surprise there.

I will never get why he put Bolton up in the first place. Bolton is not a poster child for any crazy right wing group nor is he liked by his R peers. maybe Bolton or someone who likes him knows something that W's admin. does not want revealed and that is why W put him up.

I think Monkey Boy put him in that post because of Bolton's previous negative attitude toward the UN, and Bush is signalling his similar distaste of the UN.
in other words, HE'S GIVING EM HELL Harry!!!

funny that bush refers to the partisan delay tactics but completely ignores the fact that the committee didn't recommend him, he couldn't get the votes he needed, or that bush refused to turn over documents that Dems had requested. funny how that all got left out. well that all sounds partisan to me. funny.
