My beautiful girl shaved her head! Just saw a Cannes video. Why????

LONDON: Natalie Portman says she prefers being bald. The "Star Wars" actress, who has shaved her head for her role in new movie "V For Vendetta" was quoted by Sky News as saying:

"After all the crazy hairstyles I had to endure for the films, it's quite liberating to have no hair - especially in this heat."

"Some people will think I'm a neo-Nazi or that I have cancer or I'm a lesbian."

Although there is a lot of truth in her comment!

Even today a woman shaves her head - or has short hair and automatically her sexuality is questioned....

Interestingly when I had long hair women NEVER hit on me or even gave me a second look - when I chopped it all off?? Bam - got hit on...

This also happend to my straight friend, Shannon who shaved her head and then everyone assumed she was a lesbian

PErhaps her comment was dumb - but it rings true

It's true, though. A woman who wore pants back in the day was considered one (just look at Hepburn), and now if a woman has short hair or a shaved head, it's automatically assumed by many that she's a lesbian.

It's best if celebrities don't talk so people on The Ledge like us don't criticize all the crap they say!

Josh and Deanna are right, but the thing is, if I were Natalie, I'd try not to say that outloud. It's almost like it perpetuates that misconception.

Agreed. I think what bugs me the most about her comment [and why I care is beyond me
