THE LATEST NEWS OF NOTS
THE JACKIE FACTORY NYC PRESENTS
NIGHT OF A THOUSAND STEVIES 15:
"GOLD DUST WOMEN"
FRIDAY MAY 6, 2005
THE KNITTING FACTORY
74 LEONARD STREET NYC
DOORS OPEN 9 PM - 4 AM

www.mothernyc.com/stevie
It's hard to believe that this year's milestone edition of NIGHT OF A THOUSAND STEVIES is only one month away! We're hard at work on this year's theme, "GOLD DUST WOMEN", an homage to everything Golden and Stevie. We have just closed this year's incredible lineup, with returning stars from every era of NOTS, and some exciting newcomers. Shows will begin at 10:30 PM, and last through the "Battle" around 3 AM.

Enchantresses of Ceremony CHI CHI VALENTI and HATTIE HATHAWAY are joined by BELLADONNA (Santa Barbara), BILLY O, BROOKE (Maryville, TN), CASHETTA, DEAN JOHNSON, DIRTY MARTINI (Miss Exotic World), THE DIVINE GRACE, DOLLY DOMINATION, FRANCESCA and KOOJ (Detroit), THE FUSSY FAMILY (Jade Barbee and Frances Sorensen), GLAMOUR GOBLIN, GYPSY WILD, THE HO-HOS (Cathy Cervenka and Jill Pangello), JESSICA RABBIT DOMINATION and ROB CARLYLE, JONNY TINGLE and MAX, KELLY WEBB , LIZZIE DAVIS (Flower Mound, TX), MISTRESS MIWA, NICOLE NICKS, PAIGE STEVENSON, PURPLE GYPSY, SHERRY VINE, SISTER CODIE RAVIOLI, ST. EVE, THE STEVIE NICKS EXPERIENCE (Des Moines), STITCH AND SCARLET, SWEETIE and VELOCITY CHYALDD. The magic will continue between show sets on the main room dancefloor with all-Stevie DJs CRAIG SPENCER and POISON EVE, and in the lounge with DJs TEXXX and BILLY O.

This year we received a record-breaking number of inquiries from new performers, and only had space for a fraction of those who applied. We have just finished notifying all performers of their status, and thank you all for your interest and effort. If you were not included, we urge you to contact us again for a future edition. This year's bill is closed, although we still might have another very special guest or two added in the weeks to come.

We have received many inquiries about the minimum age for admission, and are delighted to report that thanks to the liberal policy of our venue THE KNITTING FACTORY, we are able to admit guests as young as sixteen. We know that Stevie fans span the generations and are happy to be able to include the "Stevie Fledglings" in the audience. Please note that you must be twenty-one or over to purchase or consume alchohol, and proof of age will be required.

Tickets $15 (plus Box Office charges)
Advance Tickets are Strongly Suggested
Tickets online at www.knittingfactory.com
By phone at 212 219-3132, extension 3
Walk-in sales at The Knitting Factory Box Office 10 AM - latenight
You must be 16 to enter, 21 to drink. I.D. Required
Suggested Dress: Like a White Winged Dove and Golden: Gold dust and Gold glitter, customized gold-trimmed tambourines, Enchanted Eveningwear, blond and gold, oversized handkerchief hems, metallic gold shawls, gold Victoriana, ruched boot covers, mustard velvet, antique gold fringe, wizard and fairywear and of course Gold and Braid. Total Stevie Realness (All Periods).

As we prepare for a truly magical night, we are humbled by the very special joy and tremendous support that you bring to NOTS every year. Special love to all of our friends from the Stevie websites and other online outposts for the Gypsies That Remain. Forward and post freely, and we look forward to twirling in the gold dust with you on May 6.

It has a tongue-in-cheek campy quality (see sontag's "camp") that seems to be equal parts idolatry & squib/broadside/lampoon. All that combined with the colored lights & the pumping thumping humping music in the PA, & all the dancing & cavortin around -- all the grinding blinding winding caterwaulin & stallin --- makes for a sleaky freaky often-prretty-bleaky evening of fun & frolic, wouldn't you say?

In reality, it's much less about Nicks than it is about getting ****faced and lampooning her for hours on end. The only ones that take any of it seriously are the true chiffonheads that show up and walk about the club asking for the divine spirit of Rhyannon to bless them when they take the stage to earnestly emote like Miss Nicks, yet are so scared out of their minds when they finally get up there that they mumble meekly, slur their words, and harken back to the unfortunate Klonopin-haze performances from Timespace. With fuglier hair and make-up, and itchy stubble on their chests.

It is a blast. The one time I went (2001) , I was crocked before we left my friends' townhouse. We had a BLAST and laughed at the large men in bad drag, clapped for them, sang alond, and danced our asses off until the wee hours of the morning!!!!!!!

It is surreal and loads of fun!

The funniest thing was you cannot smoke in NYC bars, so there were like 25 guys dressed like Stevie in WAY BAD drag smoking under the harsh glare of the marquis and streetlights Think Dickens gone awry
