There is a band called Matt Pond PA that has released a new EP called Winter Songs that includes a cover of "Holiday Road". I was perusing some reviews of the EP yesterday and most of the reviews point to the HR cover as a highlight.
I'm not sure how long it's going to be there, but at least for now you can hear the whole song at NPR's "All Things Considered" site right here.

Ooh, I like it! Way different from Lindsey's version - but way cool. Thanks for posting Les!

I want to like it, but it's too dang slow. LOL I'm so used to hearing Lindsey's upbeatness. It's cool for a cover though.

I think this is an absolutely beautiful cover. It's like the lost track from "Pet Sounds." I imagine Lindsey himself getting knocked out by the retro sweetness of the production.

I have to agree, I did not care that much for it, The vocals were too drawn out or something. It was putting me to sleep but that doesn't take too much. I also don't know why the website couldn't even give Lindsey credit for the original song. No wonder nobody knows his name. |

It is a little bit too slow for me too, Wondergirl9847, but only because I'm so used to the original---quick and upbeat. On the other hand, it is a nice contrast to the original. It is definitely unique. Thanks for posting that, Les!

Oh, i agree christy! too slow, no original feel. On the same page you can hear "stuck in the middle with you" from Stealers Wheel by Josh Homme's Eagles of Death Metal, a stripped down friggin simplified rockin' version. That's what I call a cover. (nothing to do with death metal, just plain rock and roll)
