And I don't think it's totally dreadful or anything.
She's doing more of a rock & roll thing here than on anything since Bella Donna. The main issue I have with it is that most of the songs sound like they should've been released in 1990, not 1994. Blue Denim, Listen to the Rain, Love Is Like a River, and Kick It don't sound like anything I was listening to in 1994, at any rate. So, I can see why this album didn't do very well. I have to say that I prefer the mixes of Destiny, Street Angel, and Rose Garden that appeared on Enchanted. Stripped down is definitely better. There are some great songs on here, though. I love Greta and Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind. I've always loved Street Angel (the song). Docklands and Jane aren't nearly as bad as everyone here says they are. They're actually pretty good songs. I also really like Just Like a Woman. She should do more Dylan covers! So, yeah...not a horrible album, but not her best. I still like it better than The Wild Heart. ![]() |
