Default Eternally cool bands?

I thought I would ask you guys' opinions on this..there are many excellent bands/artists that have been around forever, some I love some I don't. The question is which artists/bands do you think have remained eternally "cool" ?

Now when I say "cool" I mean to most people...there are plenty of bands I love and think are cool but not to most...and they probably have just as many fans...but for some reason there are some bands that it's ALWAYS cool to like...who do you think?

My list is here :

Aerosmith
U2
Beetles
Rolling Stones
Metallica

Beetles? Never heard of 'em ...I do, however, love The Beatles

It has not always been cool to like them though - in 7th grade up until the Beatles Anthology came out I was made fun of mercilessly because of my Beatle love....then it got all "trendy" with the anthology...urgh...don't get me started...

Anyway...

I agree with Aerosmith and I'll add

The Doors to that

Really? He's worshipped in my circles. That man practically gave birth to modern music.

Yeah, I mean, if we're talking "eternally cool" one would have to Bowie in there. U2 as well, even though I personally cannot stand them.

Same here, sista friend. If I never see Bono again in my life, I won't be sad. They suffer from Paris Hilton Syndrome: too much exposure.

Bowie is eternally cool. He's the man.

Huh?

I'd like add Soundgarden, The Clash, Joni Mitchell, Roxy Music, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and The Swans.

My ex-boyfriend got all into him a couple of years ago - I had no clue who Nick Cave was - now I totally dig him - just didn't think Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds were too well known

Pink Floyd
Fleetwood Mac.....well maybe not.
Blondie (anyone who says Blondie ain't cool needs their ass kicked.)
Talking Heads (same as Blondie. Uncool and Talking Heads never meet in a sentence.)

They both epitomize cool. Look up "cool" in Webster's and you'll find group photos of them.

The bands that I see that seem to be cool across several generations are: The Beatles, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, and The Grateful Dead. Also, it seems that if you died young, you are eternally cool as well like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison.
