Old Soundboards

I want to build a list of the soundboards that have started trading in recent years. I'm not sure whether anyone is trying to keep tabs of it all, but rarities are still coming to light & it's difficult for even the most tuned-in fans to keep track of.

I'm talking only about actual soundboards -- cassette tapes of concerts (or partial concerts) & rehearsals lifted directly from the soundboard at Fleetwood Mac rock concerts. To list things like radio broadcasts & videotape (or film) audio tracks would be useful, too, but that's a different project. I know there's disagreement over some things (like the Manchester 1990 show), but all the soundboards so far seem to have originated with the band's ex-archivist. I don't regard Manchester or broadcast shows like Trod Nossel as soundboards. They are over-the-air recordings.

This should be a dynamic list that people can add items to, including pre-1975 Fleetwood Mac items (which I know nothing about). Don't bother with CD-Rs that are duped from already known cassettes or other CDs because in almost every case they're just a repeat from an entrepreneur looking to make some easy money.

I didn't think that the US Festival was a soundboard. I have that show & it sounds like an audience recording to me. Also, are 1982 East Rutherford & 1982 Baton Rouge soundboards? I've seen some traders have the East Rutherford show, but they're audience recordings. I've never seen any traders who even have the 1982 Baton Rouge show.

Yes, that's the show that I have. There is some confusion as to whether it's Passaic or New Haven. I've heard both. It is definitely a soundboard, though.

Thanks for the reply! The '74 Sausalito show sounds like a standard professional recording -- perhaps for radio -- but not a soundboard. Do you have any more info on it?

The '75 Passaic isn't a soundboard; it's a recording King Biscuit made for radio broadcast. As for the US Festival, there is a complete audience recording in circulation, but there is also a soundboard of the first half of it from the Frank Harding stash. As for '82 East Rutherford & Baton Rouge, they are soundboards -- but so far only one or two songs from each recording have been put into circulation (noted on my original list). The Baton Rouge show is coming, however (thanks to Tiff).

New 'boards are surfacing all the time! It's an exciting time to be breathing oxygen!

Yeah? Could be! I'd have to compare the track I have (first released to fans on the "Missing Links" box set in 1999-2000) with the concert video. Unfortunately, my VHS of the concert video doesn't include the live performance of "Got a Hold on Me"; it cuts to the damn studio video instead.

Maybe somebody with Web space could post the two cuts side by side for comparing.

Otherwise your list looks very accurate...And I agree the newer circulating live stuff is on the lite end, Wished FM (Solo & group) true "Soundboard" recordings were more readily available.

OK, this is where I think the Missing Links "Got A Hold On Me" track came from. I have a CD from a Westwood One radio broadcast called an Evening with Christine McVie from Reseda, CA. This CD has the tracks from the video album, but has "Love Will Show Us How" & "Got A Hold On Me" as live tracks, not the MTV videos. This CD also has "Say You Love Me" & "Over My Head" as well. I believe she played these 2 songs but they never made it onto the Video Album because of time constraints. They probably wanted to limit the video to 1 hour. So by your criteria then, this is not an actual soundboard since it's from a radio broadcast. As far as I know, there are no actual soundboards of any shows from Christine's brief tour that she did from April-June 1984.

You may be right about 1974 Sausalito. It is a studio recording as is 1974 Hempstead, which does sound like it has a small audience made up of friends & crew. Honestly, I'm not really fussy about whether it's a soundboard or a radio broadcast. I'm happy with either one. 1971 San Bernardino is a live concert. This is the one probably with Peter Green just after Jeremy left the band. This one has got to be a soundboard.

It looks like then that 1982 Baton Rouge & the 3 Tango shows are coming. I do have some observations about the Tango shows. You have 12/4/87 Las Vegas as coming. I already have that show & it's definitely a soundboard, not an audience recording. I've had that one for about a year or two. I also have 11/12/87 Houston, although it's an audience recording. It is of excellent quality though. So does that mean that another recording of Houston is coming? This time a soundboard? Salt Lake City must be completely new, although I think I have a few tracks that are labeled as Salt Lake City on I believe my Missing Links CD.
