Default My feeling about muslims

Siege Prompts Self-Criticism in Arab Media

CAIRO, Egypt - Muslims worldwide are the main perpetrators of terrorism, a humiliating and painful truth that must be acknowledged, a prominent Arab writer and television executive wrote Saturday, as Middle East media and officials expressed horror at the bloody rebel siege of a Russian school.

As I note the news around the world, it is a truth that everywhere you have battle, bloodshed and strife, you have Muslims.......
After watching all those news along these years, I would agree with it. Remember Munich Olympic games, sept 11, Jerusalem, etc.

But.. I must admit that the little sampling I got from my "meet a muslim" experience gave me a complete opposite perception.

I've been in 4 muslim to medium-muslim countries: Egypt, Malaysia, Singapore and India.

The most muslims: Egypt and Malaysia. And Egypt is even an arabic country. However I found people so nice, kind and sweet, that it's hard to believe they have something in common to terrorists. When I asked them (egypts) about their hate to Israel and jews, they weren't that mad. They just said that jews also did bad things that offended their culture, like building a subway under a mosque.

And malaysian muslims were even far better than egypts. I have really true friends there. A beautiful country where you can walk at 3am and nothing dangerous could happen to you (well, Kuala Lumpur is a big city and sometimes there is a little danger but it's far safer than any occidental city). Similar to Singapore.

India is not a pure muslim nation, but the region I visited (Rajasthan) has a great % of muslims. Kind people again. Very nice. They didn't seem to hate the occident, but think that they (US, UK,) shouldn't involve where is not their business.

Would I live in a muslim country? NO WAY!!! That's not my culture. I like to live in the occident, with all their nightmares on the way. It's my home, Southamerica. Peru. A country that was beated by terrorism 10 years ago. And believe, no muslim was involved with them. So it's not true that everywhere you have battle, bloodshed and strife, you have Muslims

But now that I was lucky to visit far lands, and meet very cool people there, I always remember my good muslim friends. And when I saw all those news about terrorists, I think.. What the hell have they in common with my friends??? I can't imagine Fuad, Mohammed (yeah, a common name) or Darus throwing a bomb.

Smile Good Point...

I was referring to the CURRENT state of terrorism around the world, as well as some past issues....BUT: I am glad for you that you have traveled and met friendly Muslims around the world. I know that there are many more good hearted Muslims than there are terrorist Muslims. And I am glad you got to meet some of them. You even were able to discuss issues with them, and thats good! I wish there wasnt ANY Terrorism and we could all live in peace.

Sorry it wasn't a subway, it was kind of a bypass or underground highway. It was an egyptian girl who told me that.

i heard nothing about this story, but again, it does sound kinda strange, coz you'll find mosques in arab villages (where complexed highways are unlikely to be built) or in jerusalem (where every second building is either a mosque, a synagogue or a church, so what can you do...) and even so, ain't building UNDER is the more considerate thing to do?
