Default How would you rank the Stevie albums?

In what order would you rate Stevie's solo albums (not including Timespace and Enchanted)?

Here is mine (in order from best to worst)-

TISL- So funky and fun and heartbreaking in places! This album has the best title track and I can listen to the whole thing without the urge to skip a song (except maybe It's Only Love) I think the albums only downfall is not including the extra lyrics at the end of POTU.
RAL- Wow! This album doesn't rock a little it rocks a lot! I love the vocals and the funky beats on songs like Sister Honey. It is crazy and in my opinion a masterpiece.
TOSOTM- Pure magic! Alice is one of my favorite songs "Better run for your life cries the mad hatter!"
BD- I love this album! Not funky enough though!
SA- I really like this album but there is no denying that it is one of Stevie's weakest.
WH- I can't get into this album at all!

Everyone's favorite and least favorite songs & albums always vary quite wildly around here.

I love various aspects of each of Stevie's albums, but some stand out more than others... and 'The Wild Heart' just hits me where I live, for some reason.

But sometimes 'Rock A Little' or 'Trouble In Shangri-La' occupy that top spot. I figured it was better to not have a three-way tie for #1 though.

Bella Donna -There's so much to love here, from that unstoppable "E017," to those emotive lyrics I love in "Outside the Rain" and the uplifting "Think About it." And I'm a huge fan of "How Still My Love."

The Wild Heart -I hate to put it before TISL, but I just think it's incredible. I think "Stand Back" is a classic that most couldn't hate if they tried, I think "Enchanted" is among her best, and I'm forever in love with "Gate and Garden" for the passion in the vocals and the lyrics (for personal reasons).

Trouble in Shangri-La -The title track and "POTU" are definitely a couple of her very best written songs. I have problems with the production on some of the tracks, but that's very much a matter of opinion. (But I guess this whole thread is, ). Thematically, this album really works. I don't think anything's out of place. I can't say I'm in love with every track, but as a whole, the album is very moving and effective to me.

Rock a Little -A big reason I put this before OSOTM is that I can't help but agree with diamondsnake on "Sister Honey." "Fast like a jet plane..." "Do you understand the word pleasure?" I think she sings the hell out of this and brings it to life. I've never understood the criticisms, really. The only other track I'm truly in love with is "Talk to Me," which I just think is a heavenly 80s ditty. "HAEWAFY" is an honorable mention, if for nothing else then the heart-wrenching performance.

Other Side of the Mirror -Much of the production on this really bothers me. Many of the lyrics either seem mediocre to me or just too vague. I do love "Rooms on Fire," and have a fondness for a few others like "Juliet" and "Ooh My Love," but I don't intend to tell anyone those are my favorites of hers by any means.

And I don't have Street Angel yet.

Well in two months if I go back and look at this thread my favorites could be on the bottom of my list. My favorite songs, albums, bandmembers, etc. change every few days it seems! That must mean that it is good music, I think!

I think "Bella Donna" is probably her most consistent, enduring work. I also like its organic sound: You can tell she worked the songs out with a real band before recording them (whereas her subsequent efforts were recorded in a more piecemeal fashion). But like "Rumours," it's overly familiar. I don't know how many more times I can stand to listen to "Edge of Seventeen" or "Stop Draggin'".
"The Wild Heart," to me, is Stevie's "Tusk." It's flawed, inconsistent, at times dated... but it's also less familiar and has more to be discovered.
TISL I love because of its variety and because it has Stevie's best singing and songwriting since, well, "The Wild Heart."

1. TIE: The Wild Heart and The Other Side of the Mirror. Both make me feel warm and fuzzy, which is odd in the case of TOSOTM because the heavy keyboards give it a very cold sound. WH starts off with a bang and rarely falters, IMO. Her voice is chilling and a lot of the lyrics are brilliant.

2. Trouble In Shangri-La. The title track is jaw-dropping. When I first got the album and popped it in, I was literally stunned by the song. Possibly her best lyrics ever. I'm not too keen on a few songs, but most are superb. When she's good, she's really good.

3. Bella Donna. With the exception of two tracks, it's perfect. Outside the Rain is one of my favorite songs and has my all-time favorite lyric in it. The title track is beautiful, as are most of the songs. I get goosepimples every time she kicks it up during the bridge in How Still My Love.

4. Rock A Little. It's grown on me a lot. A couple songs are too much for me still, but I've grown to love a lot of them.

5. Street Angel. Ugh. Absolutely putrid. Flat, monotonous, depressing.

1). Belladonna I love the country-feel, and vocally, she was in top form. And there's not a single song I skip.
2). tie - TISL and The Wild Heart Save a few (i. e. Love Changes) TISL is a stellar album. The title cut is one of my favorites. There's a few songs on TWH that are just ok (Gate and Garden), but the others make up for it.
4.) OSOTM Pretty good vocals. I adore Rooms on Fire and Ooh My Love.
5). Street Angel Obviously not her best work, but I love Blue Denim and Rose Garden.
6). Rock A Little IMO, her voice is just not good on this one.

1). Bella Donna - a classic beginning

2). The Wild Heart - much more rock, edge and the beginning of her vocal change to me

3.) Trouble in Shangri-La - like many have said, I'm not in love with every song, but I love something about each song and the good far outweighs the okay

4.) Rock a Little - I love her voice on this - even at the cheesiest moments - I love the breaks in her voice - No Spoken Word, HAEWAFY, Rock a Little are the most outstanding tracks to me

5). The Other Side of the Mirror - love the magical vibe of this album, but I feel like the production on a couple songs drags it down a bit

6). Street Angel - I like this album a lot, but in the scheme of things, something has to be last
