Default Why not more Chris Tusk songs on Tusk tour?

I noticed this a while back, but as usual forgot all about it. Just wondering if anyone knows why they didn't do more of Chris's Tusk songs on the Tusk tour?

They did SOTM, Angel & Sara at every show (I think.) They did at least 3 of Lindsey's (not always the same 3, of course) every show. Most of the Tusk shows featured only Over & Over by Chris (with Think About me popping up occasionally.)

Just curious - I know the rehearsed Honey Hi & ended up doing Brown Eyes on during the Mirage Tour. I find it a bit odd, that's all.

good question and observation. have wondered that myself. not really sure why. i guess they were looking for a particular flow to the shows and nothing apparently fit in. weren't there some shows where they didn't do any? as a matter of fact, on the largo video, there is no "over and over" but they included "don't stop." i think they should have done "brown eyes" or "never forget", or both.

Question !??

Typical Christine songs played during the Tusk tour were: Say You Love Me, Over & Over, Oh Daddy, You Make Loving Fun, World Turning, Don't Stop & Songbird. That's 7 songs. Multiply that by 3 and you have 21 songs for a total set. That roughly evens it out between Stevie and Lindsey. Don't know what you mean by "not playing enough Christine songs."

Christine TUSK songs, from the Tusk album, not her songs in general.

No, they didn't do "Angel" that much...it got dropped toward the end of the tour...when they added "Think About Me", actually, if I recall correctly.

It probably was due to Chris having a majority of the hits from the previous two albums (which were mentioned above) that they thought HAD to be played, so that didn't leave a heckuva lot of room for her new tunes. (unfortunately)

I took a look at Brian J's trade list & those setlists - Angel was done for the majority of the tour, and you're right, Think About Me was added pretty late (which I think is a little weird not to have been done the whole time as it was released as a single. That tune rocks!)

It was added on the last month of the tour, I think.
And it was one of the later single releases from the album.

Christine had to do to handle most of the Rumours songs for some reson. Stevie did alot of her new songs but only Dreams from Rumours, no GDW that tour wich to me is VERY weird. But I'm glad back in 79 they didn't feel compelled to play all of Rumours. Although I personally think it would've been better to play GDW and not Dreams on the later legs maybe.

Over & Over, Think About Me, Brown Eyes & Honey Hi are on the Tusk rehearsal tapes, but out of all the concerts on tape, only Over & Over & Think About Me were performed. (And they did Think About Me only during the very last month, probably in an attempt to get the final single to pump some life back into Tusk sales.) The shows had a sort of in-your-face rock spirit that maybe gave the band trouble trying to adapt something like Never Make Me Cry.

It's a shame really, I think Christine did some of her best on Tusk personally and I don't think it gets a lot of the recognition it deserves.

had to do to to to to to...to do to do do...say what????

and thank god she only did dreams!? but seriously folk, that was fine cause you got sara and sisters of the moon.

yeah, i've often wondered what gdw would've sounded like on that tour too. without hearing it, i can get a good feeling by where everyone was musically...i would say take the 1981 stevie solo version and just add fm as you know them....lindsey's guitars on the Rumours tour would have still sounded cool. The endings of that song were a cool hippy trip tribal thing that got looser and looser towards the end of the '78 tour.

i don't think it weird though. it wasn't a single. 'twas an "album track" in the days of yor....

perhaps,therefore,hence,consequently...we really don't know the reason why love keeps right on walkin on down the line...

I agree, Tusk is Christine's best work with Lindsey and Stevie.
