I personally loved browsing through the archives of the Ledge, even back when I wasn't a member. At one point, however, the archives were cut down to only show the threads from 2002 onwards. Are the older archives (from the beginning of the new Ledge) still readable for members?
![]() I can understand the desire of certain people to keep the "mistakes of the past" hidden from others, though.

Marty can answer this far better than I can, but the archives were cut back in order to free up some room. I believe this was done when we were on the old server.
It wasn't done to "hide the mistakes of the past."

Johnny Stew has it right. At one point in the past I had to delete a large number of threads to shrink the database. In doing so, I was trying to decrease the load on the server as The Penguin was getting suspended by my host. The site is now hosted on a dedicated server though and space, memory, and bandwidth are currently not issues. I have those old posts backed up, but getting them back into the live database is not possible-- especially now that the board has been upgraded and the scripts are incompatible.
