Favorite Musicals...

GardenStateGirlie · #1 04-28-2004, 01:11 AM

Well, I just found out today that my old high school is planning on doing Les Miserables next year (i'm insanely jealous, btw) which is one of my favorite shows of all time. So, in honor of this news my question is what are your favorite musicals? If you've not seen any, do you have a favorite musical soundtrack?

I'm not much of a fan of muicals. I like Fiddler. I like Guys & Dolls, though I hate the movie. I like My Fair Lady, though I've only seen the movie.

I was in Guys & Dolls a few years back. I played Sarah's friend Agatha but I was also one of the dance captains in the show so I went from playing a mission girl to stripping in Take Back Your Mink

I hated the movie version but the actual show is a good time.

Ahhh, just like the song: "Marissa, if you've ever been a lady to begin with..."

I've never seen Oklahoma. Does this mean Moe hit you on the head with a frying pan? (Explains a lot.

I'm so predictable

The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I totally love that movie and I've seen it in the theater so many damn times. I even used to perform in it.

obviously "Oklahoma" (since I live here and cannot escape from ever hearing it)

"Tommy"
"Grease"
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
"Seven Brides For Seven Brothers"

Curly?!?! That was some good casting on the part of the musical director

Sunset Blvd...I would love to have actually seen the show. Anything Goes ...I love the music. I really need to see Gypsy before Bernadette leaves the show. She was amazing as Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun as well.

I love this one too - bad message, lol, but otherwise great fun!

My ABSOLUTE favorite: Singing in the Rain. I'm surpised no one else mentioned it. The inestimable Gene Kelly at his finest.

I also love The Unsinkable Molly Brown.

Fiddler on the Roof and Evita are not as much fun, but they do have wonderful music. "Where is the little girl I carried..." :: sniffle ::

Debbie was the one that liked it but it grew on me eventually (I still think the remastering on the DVD version is way below-average...Looks almost "Colorized", But coming from a "Turner" company I am not the bit surprised)
