New Review of reissues gives some previews of the rarities

Jenny at burnish.net posted this article, a Blender review of the reissues. It's worthwhile reading for the little hints it gives about the demos/outtakes/rarities, as well as the overall commendation the remastering recieves at the article's end.

Here I've posted the paragraphs that include references to the rarirites, and the end paragraph about the great new sound definition we can expect from these cds.

Though Buckingham and Nicks became the stars, Fleetwood and John McVie formed the support system: No matter how extravagant the vocal harmonies, the basic propulsion never wavered. That rhythm section shines on two previously unreleased free-form pieces, “For Duster (The Blues)� and a 10-minute odyssey featuring Bob Welch, “Jam B (Early Bits).�

The unreleased gems are much wilder than those on Rumours — “The Ledge,� in its early incarnation, was a less churning song called “Can’t Walk Out of Here�, while Nicks’s first “Sisters of the Moon� caught a more ruminative brand of feminist sorcery.

The real news about this reissue (is) the careful remastering, which should have been done a long time ago. All three works suffered when initially transferred to disc, no doubt in a rush to capitalize on the CD craze — the edges were blunted, the crisp attack of Buckingham’s guitars got buried, the voices blurred together ever so slightly. Those who grew up on these early CDs should brace themselves, because these renderings reveal amazing little surprises, newly uncovered details that practically force you to hear this frantic five-year burst of greatness in a whole new way.

Same here.
I had initially assumed the bonus version of "Sisters" would be the extended/alternate take, with the additional verse ("So we make our choices...."), but now I'm thinking it might be Stevie's sublime little piano demo.

I love both versions to bad only 1 version of sisters is making it on (oke theres the single version too )
I hope that if they put the piano demo on it will be complete with spoken intro and all

And same here. Might be one of those studio run-throughs of it from back in 1978, when the song more closely resembled the '78 tour performances. Still, I don't see how that would prompt a reviewer to comment on some alleged difference between that & the "Tusk" version. Now, if there's a demo of "Angel" around with just Stevie, the difference between that & what the band did with it (or to it) would undoubtedly be enormous.

That's excellent news about the sound. I fear I am one of those infidels who can't listen to really old blues, as in Robert Johnson, because the sound is so crappy.

Heck! If the sound is as good as this writer claims, I may get all the reissues!

Well, this sounds cool to me but:

1. If this is a Welch era one then why is it on a BN era remaster and...

2. Which CD is this one on then? The tracklisting in the other thread says there is a jam on the '75 album but it doesn't have this title.

Rumours.

It is HIGHLY likely that Welch jammed with them during the recording of Rumours...after all, he IS in a couple of the photos in the original photo collage insert that came with the original LP. And, during his first Q&A, he mentioned still hanging around the band at that point (after the demise of Paris & before his French Kiss was released)

Yeah, I'm sure you're right there Chili, I'm still baffled by this Jam B title though (considering the posted tracklisting).

The Nicksfix posted more detailed tracklistings... listing the original album tracks and then the bonus tracks, separated into roughs, outtakes, demos, and jam sessions... and there is no "Jam B" listed anywhere (or, as the Blender article called it, "Jamb (Early Bits)").

On 'Fleetwood Mac,' of course, is "Jam #2," which is a possiblity... but the Blender review imples this particular "Jam" is on 'Rumours.'
But under the 'Rumours' bonus disc's info, Nicksfix lists "Mic The Screecher" and "For Duster (The Blues)," as the only "jam sessions."
