Thanks for the tip.
f the producers had any sense they'd be on this board & others, announcing the release date themselves.

Cool. I always was curious about it. I also always kicked myself for not attenting the Night of 1000 Stevie's so I could BE in the movie. Many Ledgies are in this! Very cool!

They're probably still pissed at Stevie's management over the songs.

The movie was first released in 2001 and has had limited screenings. Juding from the Yahoo site it looks like it will finally get a wider release this year. And hopefully it'll be out on dvd this year too!

Check out www.gypsy83.com for more information. I've been to the Night Of 1,000 Stevies, by the way, and it is a blast!!!!

So? Why should that keep them from wanting us to buy their movie?

It probably wouldn't, but the movie won't get a wide release, so it wouldn't really matter. It'll play a few indie theaters based on Sara Rue's presence and then go right to video.

Because the movie has a strong element of Stevie-ness, they wanted to use a lot of her songs. So, they contacted her management about using some and were told to send them the script. After reviewing the script, the answer from her management for song use was a firm no and it's believed to be because of the gay element in the film. As far as the producers know, Stevie was never even told about the project.

I'm glad, I personally would not want Stevie to get involved in this type of movie.

If you were to read the synopsis of the movie on its website you would see that this is a coming-of-age road movie and therefore nothing to be ashamed of.

I would much rather see her songs used in "this type" of movie than a violent and sexist cartoon like "Heavy Metal".

Well this just doesn't seem good for Stevie's image for some reason. It might give some people the wrong idea about her. I don't know, I just don't like it when people associate her with being gothic. And the summary of the movie starts out with "Two Goths..."

When I think of gothic, I think of black trench coat nerds that people picked on and then they blow up the school" I just can't get that image of gothic people out of my head...

Sorry if I offended anyone.

You should get it out of your head, it's an awful stereotype that just perpetuates even more alienation. And besides, goth has nothing to do with wearing black trenchcoats.

If you're judging the movie based on characters who like to dress like Stevie, why would you like Stevie? Back in the day, she *was* a tad goth. She wore a black wedding dress, for cripes sake. When you start adding platform boots, black lace, shawls, and black bustiers to your wardrobe, you run the risk of being called that.
