Default Eyes of the World (SYW Tour Version)

Hello all,

My band has decided that they are going to cover the most recent tour version of Eyes of the World.

The band consists of three guitarists (including myself), a bassist, a drummer, and a keyboardist. I will be playing lead guitar and singing on EOTW.

If anyone has any tips for any of the parts or the song in general, please tell me.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

No tips here, but I love the song on this tour!

The intro chords are Bb, F and Eb (played like a raised D chord sounds best, but the "traditional way" works well too). The guitar piece is as follows:
E-------------3-1-0--------------3-1-0--------------------------------
B-3-4-3-4/6-------------3-1-0---------3-1-0---------3---------3----
G-3-5-3-5/7---------------------------------------2-3----3-2-3----3--

Repeat that once, then do the same intro chords for the verses. For the chorus, it he's sliding up to some really high frets on the high E string and doing some hammer-ons and pull offs.

The guitar solo at the end is pretty hard... It starts up pretty high on the neck. I usually begin at the fifteenth fret on the E string, but I think Lindsey does it elsewhere. I can't play it quite like him, so I don't bother.

Hope that helps...

The best part of this version for me is (a) the crazy drum track and (b) the excellent synth arrangement, especially in the chorus. This version is very much how I imagine EOTW might have been if it were on TITN!

If your keyboardist has midi enabled then he should pre-arrange some midi stuff for the chorus so that he can focus on Brett's organ parts. Clearly Brett or someone is using midi or something to get this great sound.

Here's a little 'sampler' I made to highlight that great synth line. You know, the high-pitched D#.

Is a version of this live cut available somewhere for download?

I'm surprised to see Dms and Gms in there. The original song was a simple three-chord rockfest in Bb. Nyet?

The very beginning, that bit that live during the Mirage tour is the vocal bit that sounds like it's based on Pachebel's Canon, and in this tour is the power chords over Mick's monster drum riff, is definitely those chords.

The rest is, indeed, a three chord rocker in Bb (or A?).

I would love to be in a band! To bad I can't sing and don't know how to play an instrument.

I think Lindsey must be the only person who DOESN'T play Eyes in A!

You too, huh?

Bb is one of those keys I wind up slipping down a fret by accident when soloing...

Much like Fm.. gee, what do we know in Fm, guys?

From footage I've seen, I can infer, although I am not positive about this, that he is playing in A tuned down a half-step. This is how I play it.

It's obvious! I'm So Afraid.

Then again, I play that (and it seems logical that Lindsey plays it) in F# minor, tuned down 1/2 step.

Tips for EOTW (especially for the bass part, which we have no clue about) are still appreciated!

Driving root notes, with a little accented snap up to the next every chord change.
