OK in the other thread they're disscussing profit wise sheds VS. Arenas. Where would we all perfer to see our favorite band in. For me it's all about the arenas no question. The greates feeling in the world is walking through that hall thingie and emerging in this big air conditioned room and seeing that empty stage with a microphone with ribbons on it. The mood of an arena is so great. And plus the climate is enjoyable. I think it was Cinncinnati where the weather was swelteringly hot. An arena is cool and dry and you can cpncertrate on the music and the band.

I hate paying an arm and a leg and not even being able go inside somewhere, bring on a gloomy arena!

It drives him nuts. - Stevie Nicks, 1994 Last edited by bootylicous; 10-25-2003 at 09:49 PM.. |

because if they played "sheds" they will not be back in the Oklahoma City area, Since there are no sheds for 'em to play in the area...

Definitely arenas. If a band's music is magical to you, the arena makes it even more so.

I just remember a bunch of people liking Sheds, which are by the way Amphitheatres better. I'm glad to see I'm in the majority and was wrong.

No WAY would I rather see them at the Smirnoff Centre rather than American Airlines.
I'm not into that festival crap either. Arenas.

This tour made my first experiences with arenas...and I would never go back...the sound, the AIR CONDITIONING, the whole thing is just much better to me...Georgia humidity is horrendous, and when you are outdoor at HiBuys Amphitheatre in 98 degree weather...muggy....yuck yuck...hate sheds

For Pittsburgh area Ledgies, would Starlake (or whatever the Hell it's called now) be considered a "shed"?

Wow, unanimously arenas, so far. Are sheds and outdoor amphitheatres pretty much the same thing?
I don't really have a preference. I like both. In defense of sheds, I still remember the great atmosphere of my first Stevie shows-- there was something about listening to her sing out in the cool night air, and being able to look up at the stars, and having everything feel very open. Plus, if you're a lawn person (I'm afraid this tour has spoiled me beyond the point of ever being able to sit as far back as the lawn again) you can bring the cooler, blankets, stake out a good spot, etc. But then again, I live in southern California & the evening weather is generally very nice & mild & conducive to an outdoor show. Under less than ideal conditions, I can see how outdoor concerts have the potential to suck. On the other hand, the arenas are nice. They're air conditioned, and you never have to worry about rain. In conclusion, I'm for whichever will make the concert tickets cheapest because that's inversely proportional to how many shows I get to see . |

Arenas. For one thing I agree with the poster above regarding the air conditioning. My last two Stevie solo shows were in Houston outside in the summer.

welllllllllllll....... i guess i'm the lone crusader on this one. i personally prefer sheds myself. It's a summer thing. As a matter of fact, i get kind of bummed when i hear that bands are playing an arena instead of an outdoor ampitheater. It's just the atmosphere i guess. Plus, some of my first concerts (which were Stevie's back in 1986)
were at sheds, so i guess that's been forever engrained into my head. Of course, i always get the best seats and i've never actually done the lawn thing. Red Rocks is definately the best "shed" to see a show. If you ever go to Denver you've got to see a show there even if you don't like the band. It's amazing. |

I'd have to vote for arenas myself. Another reason that I prefer them to sheds is that arenas are usually centrally located in a major city. The closest 'shed" to Providence is in Mansfield, Mass. Mind you it's only about a 25 minute drive but if I was from out of town I would never drive that far. That same shed is even further from Boston I believe.
I can tell you about the horrible traffic conditions at that shed. It takes about 1 hour to get out of there on a good night. My first concert experiences were formed in an arena (Providence Civic Center, now the Dunkin Donuts Center) and there is nothing like it. If they do play sheds they will never play in Rhode Island again. I guess my dream of seeing my favorite band in my hometown is pretty much over.Last edited by WelshWitchPMD; 10-26-2003 at 02:20 PM.. |
