Question Stand Back on Football Focus (UK)...

No, I wasn't hallucinating... the intro to Stand Back is being used as the theme music for Football Focus here in England, albeit a looped and somewhat remixed version. Bizarre.

You hate football or soccer? Laura lives in the UK...and they call soccer, football. LOL

I LOVE American football!! Dallas Cowboys!! Yes, they haven't been good since the "Dream Team" broke up but dangit, I'm no fairweather fan!! LOL

That's wierd but VERY cool how they chose Stand Back!!

LOL... I had hoped the (UK) part would indicate what I meant, since I couldn't really change the name of the TV show.

But yes, just so you all realise... it's football in the sense that the rest of the world uses the word. Ah, the English language is so stupid.

Laura.

Ohh...hahah..I'm a dork...I was thinking while reading that..."gosh I didn't know that football was popular in the UK" hahaha...I didn't realize you call soccer football there, I know it's called "futbol" in Mexico, but I thought it was known as soccer everywhere else...so wow...I learned something new today...obviously I'm not a big sports person...

And..I hate American football...I have no strong dislike for other sports...just a strong horrible hatred for football...I do have reasons...and they are completely irrational and I'm aware of that...but it doesn't change my feelings lol...

so on that note...it's not so sad that her song is being used for some soccer thing...that I'm cool with lol...I'm going to end this now....

As long as they're showing off the incredible talent that is Stevie, I'm happy. And DD, I thought it was really the american football as well at first. I even remember learning that they call soccer "football" everywhere else in Spanish class. That is really sad, huh, you know what's even worse, I think I'm the only hispanic who took two years of Spanish and still can't speak the language. But then again I've been taking english since forever and I still cannot master the language...I'm going to bed now

I know what you're talking about, my parents told me to never go to Mexico until I learn the language. Bad enough my expanded family thinks badly of me because of it, but then I remember that these people can't even speak english properly and I get over it. When I was at work some ladies came in and asked me if I spoke Spanish, when I said no they laughed and gave me the most concentrated go-to-hell look I think I've ever seen. I swear, people can be so ignorant sometimes...have you heard the "So you think you're white, huh?" comment yet?

lol...nope, never gotten the "so you think you're white" thing..but when I worked retail...these old women would always come straight to me and just start going off in Spanish...so in my horrid Spanish I'd say, "No habla espanol" and once a lady just gave me the "go to hell" look and said, "what does the last name on your tag say?" So I told her...and she was like, "oh...and you don't speak Spanish? You are a disgrace to your family and your people." and she left....I was like...what a bitch!! She obviously spoke English just fine...it's like she was testing me or something...my Grandma tried teaching me when I was young, but I was not a willing learner...though I do wish I knew more now...since I live in the border land...but oh well...I'd rather gouge my eyes out than take another freaking class lol...
