Another Auburn Review
First of all, the White River Amphitheater is BEAUTIFUL! It's a lot smaller than I thought it was going to be. My friend Jess & I left way early because we weren't sure how the drive was going to be (I have a tendency to get very lost very easily
 and we ended up being second in line at the gate. We had to wait a few hours for them to unlock it, but we finally got in to pick up our tickets (section 3, row 2.) Then we had to sit in line yet again for what seemed like another hour. We FINALLY got in and decided to go check out the overpriced food. HORRIBLY overpriced food. Like, almost $10 for a freaking hamburger. We settled for the $4 nachos.  Our seats-- RIGHT in front of the stage, directly in front of Stevie's mic. Took a few minutes for us to pick our jaws up off the floor. We just hung out there for a while eating kettle corn and ice cream & wondering how the hell we got these tickets. Marvin (he's radar on the Board That Shall Not Be Named) ended up sitting right behind us-- he is THE coolest guy! I also finally got to meet Janelle (Wldheart65 on the AOL board) and her and her husband were as sweet and charming as they come. After the show we also met Stef from Fireflies UK, but only got to talk to her for a few seconds.  I saw Ken (who used to post on the Burnish board) briefly after the show, too-- VERY briefly! HI KEN, if you're out there!! Ok, the show. It started at 8:30. We didn't even use our wonderful seats because we were up front pushed against the stage the entire night. To be honest, most of the show was a big blur. I was completely overwhelmed by being THAT close. Stevie's so absolutely beautiful in person. She had on some pretty funky looking shoes, but I only got one look at them. I'm barely 5'2, and the stage was pretty high, so some things I just couldn't see. Her voice and performance was amazing, but I have to say that she seemed a little sad. As in not happy. I can understand what people have been saying in the reviews now. She did seem to perk up as the show progressed, though. i might be a *little* off as to what happened during which song, but i'm pretty sure i have it right. at this point, i'm surprised i remember ANYthing! parts of the show were just a big blur because i was going out of my mind with shock and excitement and adrenaline and all that good stuff. The Chain-- don't remember too much because I was too busy jumping and screaming like a psycho. Dreams-- pretty much the same as above. Eyes of the World-- I really, really liked this one, for some reason. I've heard the bootlegs, but I had no idea this was so cool live. I also got my first Lindsey Look of the night during this song. <3 Peacekeeper-- great Second Hand News-- this one was great, too. Everyone on the floor really got into it. Say You Will-- great NGBA-- dude, Lindsey is really working the crowd on this tour. I had no idea. I caught his eye & sang with him again during this one. I thnk I'm in love. Rhiannon-- chaos. everyone went nuts. she did a great job. Come-- holy mother of god. you haven't lived until you've seen come live. We pushed our way over to Lindsey as soon as he started this one. I think I got some good pictures. I don't know what I'm going to do if they don't come out. Probably cry for days. I was directly in front of Lindsey as he was freaking out. he was absolutely drenched in sweat, and I could SMELL HIM. not only that, but his sweat DRIPPED ON ME. i swear to god. Gypsy-- this was so sweet. i think this is the song she wore the pink kimono thingy for. Big Love-- again, was directly in front of lindsey. i kept trying to make a habit of catching his eye & singing along with him during every song, and during this one he shook his head & laughed at me. <3 <3 Landslide-- stevie dedicated it to her uncle who lives in tacoma. she always does that when she plays here. i think he was sitting a few rows behind us. THIS was favorite moment #1 of the night: i once again caught his eye & was singing along with them during "I'm getting older, too" and he smiled at me at mouthed "I AM!!" i of course shook my head vigorously, which made him laugh. <3 <3 <3 X 1000 Say Goodbye-- SO sad. a lot of people around me were either crying or close to it. What's the World Coming To-- everyone really seemed to like this, too. in fact, they seemed to love all of the new songs. Beautiful Child-- this was the one that almost got me. i don't usually get all emotional, but this one was pretty overwhelming. she just looked so freaking SAD while she was singing it. and it's not like i thought i'd EVER hear this song live, let alone be standing right under her while she's singing it. she dedicated it to suzanne, or suzette. she said something like "and this is for suzanne(?) i know you're here, suzanne." i THINK that's what she said.Gold Dust Woman-- during this one Stevie looked straight at me and smiled hugely after i yelled something (i don't remember what.) FINALLY, a Stevie moment!! amazing performance, too. crowd LOVED this one. By this point in the show I was close to completely passing out. I was way overwhelmed, and it takes a lot to overwhelm me. I've never been that close, and never thought I'd ever be that close. It was totally insane. I'm So Afraid-- amazing. we didn't get to play lindsey's guitar because we were still trapped on stevie's side (oh, how horrible, i know!!) Silver Springs-- whoa, man. it was intense. everyone REALLY got into it, too, which i think made stevie let loose a little more toward the end of the song. it was really, really, really good. Tusk-- dude. everyone went absolutely crazy for this one. i didn't know it was such a favorite. the floor turned into a mini mosh pit during this one. yes, a fleetwood mac mosh pit. unbeliveable. it was hilarious watching lindsey chase stevie around the stage, too. Stand Back-- this may have been the favorite of the night. either stand back or tusk, i would say. there's just something about this song live. SO. MUCH. ENERGY. GYOW-- favorite moment #2 for sure. this was amazing and we tried our hardest to get lindsey's attention during it. he came right over to us and we got to play his guitar for a second, BUT THEN i reached up and he GRABBED MY ARM for, like, over five seconds!!!!!!!!!_ janelle started, um, fondling his thigh, and as he was trying to walk away i grabbed onto his thumb and held on for dear life. i don't think i hurt him too badly because he played fine for the rest of the night. marvin waved him over yet again and he signed his 'say you will' limited ed. CD. stupid me totally forgot to bring anything to be signed (you should have seen me that morning-- ABSOLUTE WRECK. not thinking clearly.) and i did not wash my right hand or arm until late sunday. World Turning-- wonderful until Mick Time, and then it was just ok. and mick was sweating buckets, all over the people in front (i hid out under stevie's mic for this one. i was afraid.) i would peek over occasionally only to see mick jumping around like a madman and literally spraying sweat over everyone. (now, this is MUCH different than lindsey sweat. lindsey sweat is good.)_ Don't Stop-- one last Lindsey Look during this one. <3 <3 i think he's thoroughly enjoying making the ladies hyperventilate during this tour. the crowd was very pumped up during this song. Goodbye Baby-- very, very sad, but beautiful. a lot of people were singing along. So that was basically my night. I wish Stevie would have paid more attention to the crowd, but Lindsey more than made up for it. I didn't see much of John, unfortunately, because of where I was standing. I really hate being short sometimes!_ I did scream something to him during a rare instance where i could actually SEE him, and he flashed a big smile, but didn't look up. I didn't see much of Mick either, but i won't lose any sleep over that. i took pictures, but still don't have them developed (yes, i'm THAT broke. pathetic, i know.)needless to say, i was thrilled. more than thrilled. i'm SO glad i went, and i owe it all to Cour's very persuasive emails! and partly to my last minute ticketmaster fluke! (i NEVER get that lucky with anything. EVER.) if my pictures come out (please cross your fingers for me!!!) i'll be sure to post em!

LOL...you are too cute!! I loved your review!!! I hope I luck out that much w/ticketmaster this time around...*sigh*...only time will tell. Glad you had much Lindsey interaction

Great Review!! I wish I could have met you - the famous SaraRhiannon that runs the wonderful site.
When you played Lindsey's guitar did you sneak over to the Lindsey side or did he play on Stevie's side too? I can't remember I was freaking out the entire night. I agree, I think Stevie seemed sad. But she still sounded wonderful! How 'bout the parking? Mygad, it took us almost two hours just to get out of the parking lot and that didn't include driving that horrible two lane road back to Auburn. I liked the Amphitheatre, but man, they need to figure out how to get people out of there quicker than that!!

Great review....
Sara, Glad ya had a hella fun time...And yer right, EOTW translates better live than on most of the bootlegs, Except for the 7/17 & 5/15 shows where it rocks!!!

I was at the Auburn and Portland shows, and I don't think Stevie seemed sad or tired as everyone keeps saying. I thought she seemed happy and content, and I've never seen her smile so much in concert! I think she has just finally grown to accept her life and the things she's given up for it, which, yes, may take some of the old fire out of her. But I think she just has a different kind of fire now. She seems so healthy and I imagine she wants to preserve that. Don't ever forget that she has survived things that could've killed her many times over. I think witnessing 9-11 has changed her a lot too. As for her lack of interaction with the audience, I did notice that, but she still had some moments. It definitely seems like it is painful for her to bend over because of her hip, but she still shook a few hands at the Auburn show, namely a little girl who she noticed as she was heading off stage and made a special trip back to. I wonder if she's back to not seeing very well. I know she had laser surgery in '94, but it does not stop the hands of time and I noticed she was wearing glasses in some of the fan club studio footage. She did warm up during the Auburn show, but I didn't think she seemed upset in the beginning either. I was in row 11, so I was more able to observe the audience as a whole. They kind of sucked at first, but they very slowly got more and more excited until they were whipped into a frenzy by the end. The band was really appreciating it and it definitely made for some great performances. Stevie really laid into GDW and Rhiannon was probably the best I've seen in person. I also love her interaction with Brett at the beginning of Stand Back (and LOTS of spins at this show!). Say Goodbye live leaves me speechless, and it was absolutely exquiste in Portland. I thought my head was going to pop off during Come (better in Portland) and I'm So Afraid (better in Auburn). Lindsey absolutely was mentally up in the universe somewhere during his guitar solos. Goodbye Baby was SO special in Auburn...literally half the place cleared out after Don't Stop, so it became a special gift for those of us who stayed. The security guards loosened up at this point and let everyone move up front (whereas the rest of the show only the first three rows were allowed). I was then maybe three feet from the band as they did their beautiful rendition of this song. Stevie looked and sounded absolutely amazing (I love her new pink shawl that she wears for this song).

(It's still better than The Dance...Stevie sings not once in the entire song!) I miss the crazy vocals they (Stevie's sometimes fancifully reminiscent of Yoko Ono) used to do and Stevie with her cowbell!

I think we were in the parking lot for about as long as you were! Turning left out of the parking lot onto the highway was nearly impossible, too. We ended up driving through Maple Valley to get back, and it probably took longer in the end, but we got to a point where we just couldn't stand not moving!! I really hope they get the parking & traffic issues worked out soon.
