Thumbs down Jealous in Philly? Dissing Stevie and Phoenix...really now!

Did anyone in Philly see this article yesterday that disses Stevie and Phoenix? Phoenix will soon replace Philly as the 5th largest city in the nation and it looks like somebody isn't happy about that. Dan Russel of the Philadelphia Daily News wrote a column that points out some bad facts about Phoenix, but he also injects some rude personal opinions:

Facts:

#1 in high school drop outs
#1 in stolen cars
#1 in unsolved rapes
#1 in delayed airline flights
#1 in percentage of kids without health insurance

Rude opinions:

Phoenix has the worst cultural attractions in America (?...not that bad)
Hottest bar features live bull riding (and that would be...?...not where I go!)
It is the home of mediocrity...examples: Lynda Carter, Wayne Newton, David Spade, Stevie Nicks

This guy's just jealous. If you want to read his whole rant go here: http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/6262456.htm
We're not taking this thing lying down! Here's our answer to that noise in today's AZ REPUBLIC:

Well, I won't even bother to argue his statements about Stevie, because I'd just be preaching to the choir here... but if he's ever seen Lynda Carter in her Wonder Woman costume, how could he possibly consider her "mediocre"??

Arrow YO!!!!!

Wonder Woman is NOT mediocre!! I am Wonder GIRL....dammit!! LMAO!!

What a tool.

It doesn't make anything but overpriced hardware for the Pentagon. It has no local traditions, except the ones it stole from Native Americans before chasing them to the reservation. Its most distinguished leader, Barry Goldwater, was the loser in the nation's biggest presidential landslide.

Well, he obviously didn't think Stevie was THAT mediocre, he used her song title in his article. LMAO!!

Hmmm... Everytime I've been in Phoenix, I've pretty much spent the whole time obsessing about getting out.

Dry heat my ass!

I love Wonder Woman. Stevie rocks too. That article is lame. It is however, very hot and traffic conjested there. Whenever I visit, I seem to see oodles of homeless-like people around. I love other parts of AZ though, Sedona, Prescott, Flagstaff.

I thought San Francisco passed Philly years ago. My mistake.
(They don't count the suburbs in these things, my family & friends in Philly love to remind me.)
Incidentally, as a former Philadelphian, I know that Stevie has lots of fans there. This guy does not speak for the city, as you know.
I'm impressed & relieved that nobody bashed Philly in their responses to this post.
(And hey, Strand, no song parodies allowed when I'm away from the board. I'll let the plane comment slide this time.)

BTW, remember the Friends one where Ross has Rachel dress up as Princess Leia? For me, it would have to be her dressing up as Lynda/WW.

I'm 100% sure that this guys doesn't have any of his facts straight!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm positive that Memphis, TN ranks #1 in cars stolen. They rank #1 every year in all national surveys by insurance companies, the government, etc.! I also know this due to all the people I know who have lived or live in Memphis. While my husband lived in Memphis, he had three cars stolen and his friend had four stolen. They always said well that is what we get for living in the #1 place for stolen cars! Anyway, this guys doesn't even have the data down correctly. Where did he get this stuff anyway?! I guess it is one idiot's opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.

I lived in PHX for nine years and one of the few things going for it is Stevie Nicks! How can they diss her!

PHX on the other hand is dirty, polluted, hotter than hell and devoid of culture

I have lived in the suburbs of Philly ( jersey side) my whole life. I go there all the time.

It doesn't offer much. South Street is just plain thug city. I went there for the 4th and there was no place to go. And the streets were covered with gangs and little sluts. The freaks don't even come out anymore. There are like 5 sex stores and the rest of the shops look old and crusty. DIRTY. There is a good sushi place and a couple of little places to sit and drink...but its not spectacular.

The city has tons of cute places to eat and drink, but again, nothing that stands out. Philly will soon drop further unless something changes. The clubs go out of business fast because again, they want the rap clubs next to the prissy clubs and it doesn't work. They have to figure out who they want to be there.
