Default Mystery To Me

Yeah I know this thread doesnt belong here, but gosh I dont think anybody will even see it in the pre-Rumors forum! Does anybody go there? The place is a wasteland. LOL

I think this is a really incredible album and like it a lot better than most of the the Buckingham/Nicks era stuff I've heard so far. It's got some of Christines best songs and Bob Welch is really in fine form.

"Emerald Eyes" is a great slice of mellow pop and those explosions knock me out of my seat every time. "Believe Me" rocks like few of Christine's tracks do and the explosions in this one are even louder than the previous track! Explosions rule!

You also gotta love that cheap-ass drum machine and cute bassline in "Forever," which is one of their cutest songs (along with "Never Forget"). The drum beat in "Hypnotised" is one of the coolest beats I've heard in a song and I love the otherworldly vibe of this one, which is the coolest thing on here.

I could go track by track with every song since all of them are equally cool but as you can tell by my caveman review I'm not feeling very creative today so I'll just leave it at this--Mystery To Me rocks.

Peace

Eric

Well, Eric, "post it and they will come".

That's why the little lightbulbs are on the main Ledges page, to let people know there's a new post in that section. If people only post in one section, why have the 6 or 7 sections? Pony-up, man, "post it where it belongs", as well!

So, anyway, in regards to your post...Mystery To Me is in my top 3 favorite Fleetwood Mac albums. (but, then, I always consider my favorite FMac album to be whichever one I'm listening to at the moment) "Hypnotized" is pretty much my 2nd favorite FMac SONG (behind "Oh Well")

Hi Eric, welcome to the Ledge.

chilid is right, there may not always be a lot of posts on some other forums (Stevie, Lindsay and Rumours are the most popular) but a lot of people like myself do always at least read the posts on the other forums. The Pre-Rumours forums is one of the most intelligent discussion groups because the real and serious fmphiles like chilid hang out and post there. so you can always learn something new

Mystery to Me is one of my favorites also, I just love Bob Welch...

I LOVE Mystery To Me. Tusk & Mystery To Me are my favorite Fleetwood Mac albums from any era. My favorite songs on the album are "Why", "Hypnotized", "The Way I Feel" & "Emerald Eyes". But all of the songs on the album are each a gem in their own right. "Why" is my second favorite Fleetwood Mac song, after "Songbird". I think Bob & Christine worked perfectly together on this album.

I always read & often reply to posts on the Pre-Rumours board. If you post there, someone will see it. It's the most mature & interesting of any of the boards on The Ledge, in my opinion.

Thumbs up M2M

AWESOME album...as are all the pre-Rumours albums I've heard so far...well, except Penguin...I listened to it once. LOL I like Bob Welch alot and Hypnotized is my fave Bob/FM song. Why, Christine's masterpiece is awesome too!! I really wish more people would give pre-Rumours albums a chance....especially M2M, Future Games and BARE TREES!!!

Mystery To Me is about the first FM album I was aware of back in 70-whatever (yeah, I'm an older fan.....) It has some great music on it.

I also think it's a stitch how Mick now looks like the guy on the cover of M2M - was he prescient???

Which reminds me, this has to be one of the coolest album covers ever! I really wish the CD was like the vinyl version so when you opened it the picture continued. CD's blow.

I think that cover is right up there with Tales From Topographic Oceans and Mellon Collie and the Infinate Sadness.

I love M2M but I must admit that the first album I purchased pre-Rumours line up was Penguin which is also a great album.

I think that's one of the nicest things I've heard about that album yet. The funniest review I've read of it said simply "This bird doesn't fly"

Yeah, I don't think I've ever heard anyone else call "Penguin" a great album, but I certainly respect macmar71's opinion. I love all three of Christine's songs & Bob Weston's instrumental at the end, the rest of the album I can do without, especially Dave Walker's two songs.

Mystery To Me is an excellent album - as is Bare Trees. Future Games is worthy of a spin but not as cohesive as others.

I actually dig Penguin, mostly for Chris's 3 songs, which are outstanding. Mystery to Me is probably my favorite FM album ever, just because it's sooo well rounded and practically perfect. Of course, any album with "Why" on it can't be less than that. Bare Trees is another great one... actually, the only pre-Rumours album (including the Peter Green ones) that I don't dig totally is Heroes are Hard to Find. I love Christine's songs on there ("Come a Little Bit Closer," anyone?), but I don't know what smoke Bob Welch was crackin' on that album, but geeze. "Silver Heels" is about the only song of his that I can stand.

Ta,
Laura

Mystery To Me is one of the great classic forgotten albums of the 70's.
Hypnotized is just about as good as anything LB wrote for the band. I love Bob Welch's spacey, mystical style. Other standout are Why, Keep on Going and Emerald Eyes. I'm not all that crazy of their cover of Graham (10CC) Gouldman's For Your Love, earlier a hit for the Yardbirds.
