Question Problem with SYW CD

Help! My SYW CD is scratched on one song. This happened to me on The Dance CD, too (Why is this only happening on my Mac CDs?), one song got scratched. And it's on one of my favorite songs, Miranda! So my questions are this, is there a way to fix a scratched CD, is there something I can get to clean my car CD player & finally, I thought they made CD players in cars anti-shock, so they won't cause your CDs to jump or get scratched.

That happens to me, too.
I imagine that my poltergeist gets sick of always hearing the FM/Stevie music.

Sorry, I'm not aware of any way to fix a scratched CD. But hey, if you buy a new one, Mick sure would appreciate the revenue.

Good luck.

You know my SYW Cd did the same thing. It skipped and jumbled in my car around Illume and Thrown Down. I was not having it but I kept the CD as I could not get another at that time. So I listened to it at home and it did not skip. Now I listen to it in my car and it does not skip. Its weird. Once a week I hear the jumble and then I dont. Weird! Maybe our CD's are jinxed..lol.

Good luck!

That's really interesting... mine's scratched on Thrown Down too! I know I didn't do anything to scratch the CD... but there's big scratch/crack on the back side of my CD next to the hole in the middle of the CD (I don't know my CD terminology ). I wonder if they're defective??

Mine's also scratched in "Miranda"... But it just happens sometimes, which is very weird. And in some stereos, too... I wonder what Mick had to do with this. Because I sort of know that he and/or The Kinght is involved in this stuff.

the data on cds is not on the plastic in the back. it's actually under the paint on the front side.

the laser reads through the clear plastic to the reflective material under the cd's "picture".. so the only way a scratch on the back side of the cd can hurt is if it makes it kinda opaque and prevents the laser from reading through it to the shiny part.

i have a little cleaner thing that i put on mine sometimes if they get REALLY bad.. its a little black bottle & has a soft cloth. i just give it a little rub & it usually works again.

the dance, on the other hand mysteriously quit playing. it's not even scratched. i had to buy another copy. i bet it's a mick $$$ scheme to double album sales.

check the top side of the cd though. if it gets a scratch or flakes off.. you're screwed.

My best friend told me to rub highlighter over a scratch on a CD and that that will usually fix it. I haven't personally done it, but I trust her, so you might wanna try that.

Slightly off the subject, but what about the shoddy design of the limited edition packaging? My CDs ripped through the paper sleeves in the first week!

I did something preventative from the very beginning...I got two slim CD-R jewelcases and put the discs in those. It keeps both the discs AND the limited edition packaging in perfect condition.

Angry Cheap Packaging!!!

I did the same as Hollywood Steve......
{Are you a big-time Hollywood Star?}

The whole thing is very poorly done!
The pictures aren't good either IMHO!
The case for Very Best Of broke too so
we bought better ones to preserve it!

Default Disc Dr.

I bought the Disc Dr. (seen it called Scratch Dr. also) for about $20.00. It works very well. You can actually see a visible difference on the discs after you use it. It doesn't work on deep scratches though, but I think it's definately worth the money.

What is this Carmex stuff? I've never heard of it. Thanks to all who responded. I honestly don't see any scratches on the CD. Just the other day in the car CD player, every song started jumping around, starting with Thrown Down. Of course, I freaked! So I played it on my portable CD player at home, & the other songs seem to be alright, just when it got to Miranda it like got stuck. I've never had this happen on a CD, & I never imagined that it could happen to a CD. I thought they were supposed to be better than an album. I'm always careful with my CDs. I blame this on my stupid car CD player! I will try something on it b/c I can't stand not being able to listen to Miranda.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. Also, I didn't like the fact that I had to tape the track listing onto the back cover. I also feel like I have to handle the whole thing with kid gloves or it's gonna break.

AND, (yes, I'm on a tear tonight...lol), if I dare put that cd into my computer, it takes me to the FM site and then FREEZES my computer! I swear! Creeps me out! I haven't been back to FM.com since the second time that happened.
