Hey, a 55 year old woman can make her own decisions, for sure.
And Stevie has earned the right to be taken seriously for her music no matter what she does to the rest of her. Still, part of the appeal is the look. I could pretty easily accept it if Stevie gave up boots, or even platforms, though I like her in them. I could accept if she started wearing pants, or even jeans again, though I like the witch thing. I could accept it if she wore thick crocodile glasses or got blue contacts, though I like her brown eyes. I could EVEN reluctantly accept it if Stevie ditched the girlie-girl look. Can't you just see her in one of Lindsey's old V-neck white t-shirts, maybe with a short sleeve rolled up over a pack of cigarettes? With low-hanging baggy jeans and big clunky workboots? Would take some adjustment, to say the least. BUT... I would freakalittle if Stevie went out and chopped most of her hair off and dyed it black. Or if she went for the Sinead look. Or the Bo Derek look. Not that that would ever happen. The signature hair has been around for so long, and she even sings about it. How many sonwriters DO sing about their own hair? I guess this means it's a keeper, thank goodness. What would be weirdest for you? - Jake
