Question Camera question..

Ok so now that I am going to a second show and the seats are pretty close, I am going to finally take the chance to bring my camera. I was caught with one back in 97 and since then have been afraid. I have a great camera with a great zoom, and know I can get some great shots, but I think everyone here said to get 800 film. I am not sure if advantix puts this out...so I was thinking of the disposible.

My question is.....what has been everyones experience with a camera at the concerts...and where can you get 800 film? I think I recall someone on here saying that their film did not come out great with this camera?

i have an advantix camera and the last time that i tried to get 800 film for a concert, they didnt make it, but that about 8-10 months ago, i usually just get a good disposable camera

the pictures that i took at the buffalo concert came out pretty well with a disposable camera. i was also in the 6th row.

good luck

Thanks! Can I ask which disposible you used and what speed?
I think this might be my route....

One mistake that I see people make all the time is using a flash. Flashes are only effective within 30 feet of whatever you are taking a photo of. Any further than that and all you're doing is lighting up the head of whoever is standing in front of you and drawing attention to the fact that you have a camera.

So, are you saying that if in the first 5 rows, no flash would be needed, as long as you're using 800-speed film?

Also, my own experience, I think Fuji film/disposable cameras are a LOT better than Kodak. I learned about that when researching the best underwater camera for snorkeling. On a cruise message board, everyone was coo-coo for Fuji. I haven't used any Kodak products since. My Cher pictures are in "brilliant colors."

I've taken a lot of non flash pitures at lower speeds without high speed film. You have to get cooperation from the developer. You have to be able to set the film speed of the camera and I don't think you can do it with a disposable. If you can't get 1000 or 800 speed film, go ahead and take the pictures with 400 but set your camera to 800. When you take the film for developing ask them to "push" the development to 800. It's really the developing that makes the difference. You have to take the film to a place that does hand developing not to the drug store drop off. This technique works best for black and white photos. I've had mixed results with color. The pics should be clear from the front rows. The color won't be as rich. They'll be grainy compared to pics taken with a flash but they'll be better than dark ones with no flash.

Thanks for the info! I am thinking of bringing both to the concert....use the disposible one for the majority of the night (with no flash) and use my zoom one for a few special pics. But I am a little nervous as I am going to be solo, so no buddie next to me can block me some.
I am sure that people in the 2nd row will get great shots! (hint hint)...are you bringing a camera Livia?
Now I am on a mission for fast film in a fuji coat!

That could be fun. Does this include smoke and large blasting yellow and red flames? I hope it's the head of one of those nuts who can't shut up and sit down and be quiet during the show.
