SS, Threadstarter: 'Storms' is a great choice, and it was once many of our choices for 'song that best describes me'-- Then, unfortunately, something called Vh1 Fanclub aired- it is one of the least talked about Stevie-related broadcasts, ever. It was mortifying- they showed this old man, seriously between 70 and 80, and he's driving like this Lincoln Towncar, smoking a pipe, and old-fart grooving along to 'Storms' as it played on his car cd player with this self-satistied ancient face deep in appreciative comtemplation- It was so embarassing!

Then, to add insult to aged injury, he quotes Stevie-- "This is her song that best describes me- never have I been a blue calm sea, I have always been a storm"-- About half a dozen of us wanted to die. Vh1 's Fanclub" series didn't last very long, to my recollection. What it did was made fans of the artist feel foolish for being fans, because they'd show these dorky creatures who were into bands we like, and it was a little too close for comfort, I think. I think it aired sometime around the year 2000, or so, I watched it once, and it have taped on VHS, but man, it was depressing. "Oh great, I have something in common with a 99 year old, this song that's always meant so much to me is that old man's song."
It's almost like it's become a forbidden subject on The Ledge

My answer to this question changes, varying with my current life experience. At this point in time, the Stevie song that best describes me is "Doing the Best That I Can". Because I was silent...and I was locked away, for quite some time. But I'm not now.

This is hard, because it always changes. Or certain songs bring up or bring back to mind certain emotions. Most of these feelings that make me think of events that have happened in the past.

But for now I'll go with Blue Water.

Default so many to choose from!

Cry Wolf , an amazing song it resonates from the beginning of the first note. The Nicksfix has done a great job of keeping the lyrics so active.

too bad its not some rarity but a rather over-publicized song!

landslide----I am really going through this aging thing. I have a one year old and a three year old and I am in pain watching how fast they grow. It is a wonderful and painful thing. My parents are aging and I have just realized they will not be around forever. I am married 10 years next week to my highschool sweet heart and thinking through the changing tides of our life together. Changes once the kids came along and we have less of ourselves to give to each other.

Urgh, is this therapy LOL

Thanks for sharing! As played out and re-cycled as it is I always quote Landslide lyrics in my head especially in regards to the aging thing. And it's weird because Stevie was so young when she wrote it but obviously wise beyond her years. I'm going to be 34 this year and the aging thing has really hit me (hence the hundreds of dollars spent on creme de la mer, thanks Stevie). I'm very fortunate though as most people wouldn't guess I'm a day past 25. Aging is not easy but a part of life and we really have no choice but to embrace it since there is really no way to avoid it.
