I didn't see this thread yesterday. I'm all about BR5-49. They're my second favorite band. They're kind of on the sidelines right now, because Bob Dylan stole their multi-instrumental show stopping guy, Donnie Heron, for his tour(F**K you, Bob Dylan- I'd say THAT to Bob Dylan!). BR5-49 is everything from hillbilly to punk, rockabilly to Texas Swing, all injected in you with a great sense of humor. More fun than a barrel of monkeys!

I was going to mention Reckless Kelly this morning, but I had to cut my post short....Also Nekko Case is way up there on my list. Others Kasey Chambers, Kathleen Edwards, Radney Foster all good stuff for the fan of Alt.Country. Which I find now to be the most listened to part of my collection. I must be getting old.

I don't have my Emmylou Harris CDs transfered to my computer yet, but I can hook you up with some Patty Griffin songs, if you're interested.

Jayhawks? Do you have a specific album to recommend?

Let me know if you want me to send you some Emmylou.

And you can always check BestBuy.com to check what your local store has in stock by just entering your zip code.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! Just to add a few to the already fine list - Kelly Willis, Kevin Welch, Cheryl Wheeler, and I guess since he doesn't fit in anywhere else - Lyle Lovett

I adore Lucinda Williams and also love Kasey Chambers, I believe she's considered alt-country.

Didn't know Emmylou is considered alt-country, she's the bomb.

He had a regular weekly gig at the Saxon Pub, like every Wed. nite or something...

Recommend an Allison Moorer album to me
Her earlier albums are pretty much traditional country. I'd recommend her latest, The Duel. It's more alt-country/rock and just a beautiful record. It's definitely my favorite of hers.

The Duel is awesome. I'd recommend any of her albums though she is just so damned talented.
