SPOILER!!!!!

I thought JF was brilliant as always. She is one of the finest actresses of our era and ever IMO.

The storyline, however, was trite in so many respects. For example, I thought the whole thing with the Middle Easterners was ridiculous, predictable, and played to the lowest common man - though Foster made the best of it as she always does - I mean he hands her her purse at the end and they express a heartfelt glance There were others - like the odds of her actually going into the hold and opening the casket much less leaving it open. I actually laughed out loud at that part

I give it a C+ only for Foster, who gets a B+ from me. I did think, however, the scenes of them mostly alone in public places like the street, the subway, the plane, etc. - that was clever and thought provoking. But, the rest was not.

But - to each their own and it def. is worth seeing as Foster makes a purse from that sow's ear.

ok, I just saw it and I have to agree. I was kind of disappointed. Foster was amazing like so many are saying. However, I thought the accusations against the M.E. men was not needed if it didn't end up playing a part in the plot...and what the hell did they do to the girl to knock her out for like 6 hours and she was not rushed to the hospital???

It did play a part in the plot. The entire point of the first act was to establish her paranoia and slowly deteriorating mental state after the death of her husband. Before she lays down to sleep with her daughter at the start of the movie, she sees two men "spying" on her from the house next door who appear to be of Middle Eastern descent. The audience is left unsure whether or not what she sees is just her paranoia taking over or if it's reality. I didn't find that device to be tacky like others did, but I did find the final shot of the Middle Eastern man handing giving her bag to her to be rather insulting to my intelligence.

It was sort of like the producers thought the storyline was too subtle for the masses so they wrote in the ME sensationalism to appeal to the lowest common demoninator.

Also, Sean Bean (BOROMIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) was great as was the chick who played the shrink

Greta Scacchi! I think she's divine. Had a big crush on her when I was a teen, too. She was positively smoldering in Altman's The Player.

It was worse than those pro US movies Hollywood made during WWI - I laughed out loud in the theatre and was not alone and this was in suburbia Georgia

Also, I thought the camera angles and the lighting of the movie were far better at portraying the paranoid effect the director was going for. Whem she was talking to the shrink, you could feel yourself doubting the existence of the child.

Finally, I just watched Donnie Darko - very strange but oddly appealing Did you see it?

One of my favorites.

Did you see the regular version or the director's cut? The director's cut sucks donkey balls.

Yea - that is all they had.

It was just soooooo brooding and IMO hard to get into at first.

The scene in the theatre when Frank was unmasked was my fav. and so stellarly (is that a word ) done with the use of shadow and light. It was almost symphonic.

They were giving away posters for that movie at the theater today. I almost barfed at the sight of them.

It looks so stupid and fun though!!!!!!!!

I cannot wait for it to come on cable

BTW - I also rented "Everybody's Doing It," which was rather dreadful except for the musical production number with the STD's which was brilliant

well, I understand that but it could have been anyone - why did it have to be someone of ME descent...I just didn't like that

I think that was the point though - that her hysteria was inflicted on the close and easy mark via prejudice. It did not work for me though.

I did, however, think the Airport 75 Myrna Loy esq. drunk Bubba was pretty funny.

I saw a slight hint of Fellini oddness in this movie - like when the passengers applauded her returning to her seat - it was almost comical in a sick way.

Clearly, my "best movie ever" review is not shared by all. But I stand by my statement- it was the best movie I've seen in years, in my opinion.

And the Middle Eastern passengers part was one of my favorite parts of the whole movie. That, and the part where she turns the lights off and releases the oxygen masks! That was so suspensful and funny at the same time.

Why? You don't like kick ass skating? You don't like the seventies? Whats up?

Than apparently you don't see many movies.. j/k

I saw Flight Plan tonight as well... i was really into the first half of the movie... but once it was revealed about whether or not she was dillusional or if her daughter was really kidnapped, it became very predictable...

i also didn't like the fact that ALL that money was wired into some bank account.. just seemed weak to me, as if the money wouldn't have been recovered at some point, or an investigation wouldn't have been done to determine what happened to the 50 milllion once Foster's character was dead.. maybe i missed something? hmm...

I was also sort of hoping for more of a twist at the ending... like, the daughter wakes up, and she looks at Foster's character and says "who are you"? you know, something good like that.. i guess i just don't like typical Hollywood movie endings..
