Go See Flightplan right now!!!

Okay, normally I wouldn't start a whole thread about a movie but this film rocked! I don't know what all the bad reviews were about, because I was really entertained throughout the whole movie. It was so suspensful- I was on the edge of my seat! I love Jodi Foster so I knew I would love this movie, but I didn't expect it to be this good.

I dare say it was better then Silence of the Lambs! Did anyone else see this movie tonight? What did you think? It was the best movie I've seen in years without a doubt.

I just saw it being the huge Jodie Foster fan that I've always been ..I see the reviews have been very mixed but Mick LaSalle the critic for the SF Chronicle whom I respect gave it a man standing on the seat applauding bascially an 'A' so it is getting some good reviews.Jodie was awesome. Alot of critics carped that it was similar to Panic room but her character is different in this. She begins the film aleady emotionally very distraught and then just keeps going until the force of her performance reaches operatic proportions and you can't take your eyes off of her.IMO she joins Bette Davis and Barabara Stanwyck as one of cinemas all time great actresses who can turn mediocre melodrama into a mesmerizing experience by force of her own charisma and nearly superhuman acting technique. Is it better than Silence of the Lambs ? no but I'd recommend it for fans of great star acting.

I agree... With any other actress, I don't think I would have loved this movie as much. It is really exciting, but Jodi Foster just made it that much better!

And, although I love Silence of the Lambs, I enjoyed this movie much more. I don't know how it will stand up in repeated viewings though. I plan to see this again very soon- that's how much I loved it! I even liked it more then Panic Room, which I never thought could happen. Panic Room is one of my favorite suspense movies of all time.

Thanks for the heads up. I love Jodie, so I'm definitely planning on going to see Flight Plan.

I doubt I'll like it better than Silence of the Lambs though. That movie is one of my all-time favs.

I'll probably go see it this weekend. I'm glad it's good - thanks for the heads up.

Why are some people bringing up Hitchcock's old "The Lady Vanishes" in relation to this new flick? Is the new one based on "Lady"?

In the old Hitchcock film the female lead falls asleep on the train and the old woman sitting next to her is gone and no one recalls seeing her, pretty much the same thing occurs on the plane with Jodie and her daughter.

See, Contact is one of my fav movies because of JF. She is amazing. I also loved Sommersby, Nell, Maverick, Silence...all because of her. She just has this WAY-to make otherwise bad movies good.

I'm glad to see she hasn't lost it. Hopefully I'll get to see this movie.

It's that combination of having both a riveting star charisma and incredible acting technique .There are actresses that have one or the other in film now but not both in the arresting combination that Jodie has .Kate Hepburn and Bette Davis had both and IMHO she is their peer and currently peerless in that realm .

You're quite persuasive. I will have to check it out.

Saw it

I saw Flight Plan last night, and I wasn't crazy about it. I actually was a little bored, but I don't want to give anything away. As far as Air Plane thrillers go, I liked Red Eye much better.

Is Red Eye still in the theaters? I've been so behind on movies lately.

It still is here. Might be heading to the $2.00 theater soon though.
