Sorry, something happened to my brain, I'm not sure what I'm talking about. I think you might have expressed just why the lone soldier (well not quite the front line, more like an army medic) gets to say those things. Also he probably wouldn't feel the need to explain his misunderstood genius and reasons for his decisions if the media and audience were to send more attention and credit his way, rather than just screaming for Stevie's chiffon.
but what lovely chiffon it is

You can't force people to pay attention to you if they don't want to, though.

As usual, you've hit the nail squarely on the head.

Like maybe during the Rock a Little Tour? Lawdy...

Falling off a stage is bad for your health.

Organic, as in one thing leads to another? He says things that are pretty simple, but does so with words that make it sound more complicated

He can be like a broken record.

I kinda like the painting/movie making analogy. Its pretty true, but he could stand to update his material a bit more often I suppose

It's not like some of those same bandmembers hadn't given interviews to the press saying that they were much happier with him gone from the band so they could be a "real band" again. I just can't imagine why Lindsey might have said some of that stuff.
I certainly see your point. As I said before, he is so freaking talented and contributed tons of creative genius to the band, and I know he never felt fully appreciated. I guess IMO it was just an odd forum for him to make those kind of statements.

Out of curiosity, who said they felt like a 'real band' again once he'd left? I don't think I've ever heard that quote. Was it Mick?

(I don't know if Lindsey said this in an interview or what, I found it in a book of my mother's: Bitch Bitch Bitch.)

Well that is a pretty stupid thing for him to say, seeing as he did the same thing. Look at the set list for his solo tour and there are what 8 or 9 fleetwood mac songs
I think it was an interview from the Go Insane era, not sure. I suppose it is kinda like the pot calling the kettle black, but there was about 8 years between Go Insane and Out Of The Cradle, and opinions and feelings about things can change I suppose. Plus, can you imagine if he went on tour and played no FM tunes? I think he realised if he did that, he'd end up busking on the street!

He made that joke about "As long as nobody yells out GYOW too soon, we'll get along just fine.". That quote makes me realize he's self-aware of what the people want. Well, most people, I can do without GYOW for the rest of my life. LOL If he did a solo songs only tour, I'd most certainly be there for every one and I know some others who would as well.

Here are some random quotes that kind of relate. There are more, but these are some that I have off-hand.

In Conversation Batabak Interview - 1988
MICK: "Quite frankly, I think our audience was more concerned that Fleetwood Mac was still going as a band than being concerned about losing Lindsey Buckingham. And I have to say that's really how it is and it's nice to know that."

Rock Stars with Timothy White - October 31, 1987
Stevie: (about the first rehearsal with Billy and Rick) "The first rehearsal was probably the best rehearsal, amazingly enough. They've all been good, but the first one, it was like I knew instantly that when we step onto the big stage that this is going to be wonderful. The neatest thing about this whole thing is it sounds really great in this small rehearsal room. It sounds like Fleetwood Mac. If you walk outside and listen from the parking lot the first thing you would say is... it's not like you would say, "Ah, I don't hear Lindsey." What you hear is Fleetwood Mac."
