The eBay problem

Yeah, I've been an ebay nut for sometime now. It does come & go in stages with me. Right now I'm buying but I need to slow down some. More than just Stevie/Mac things too but they are in there as well. I've not ever sold but I could just don't understand all the 'tax' things--putting it on your taxes etc.(Or the uploading of pictures etc) Plus just don't know about dealing with all the hassle of selling either. Heck just some Stevie/Mac stuff alone that I probably don't want anymore I could sell --anyway, I love ebay heck its just cool to 'look' at stuff all the pictures. Love it.....so I do understand your issue's thats for sure.

I think you have to list/sell over $1000 before you are SUPPOSED to claim the income on your taxes, but can't recall if that's monthly, or for a full year or what. Screw taxes...is like a yard sale-your crap re-selling. Certainly entitled. It's hit and miss. Can be a hassle and not everything goes smoothly, just like whe you are a buyer but any income is nice. If you can make a profit even by a few bucks over what you spend...WIN! lol

Yea, my SATB collection is small cause there is SO MUCH SATB stuff out there. Have you even started on Creatures? Collecting to have or for the tunes? You do have the Downside Up box right? You must show and tell what'cha got!!!! I've been on the hunt as of late for the fan club CD singles. Red Wrapping Paper and Rocket Ship. So stupid I never got those. I did almost buy an Arabian Nights 12"...think it started at $2.99-was a really great price, but......ebay...trying....to....resist....

OK. I have a great SATB collection! I go between SATB and The Creatures when collecting; right now my interest is all SATB. I do have Downside Up - which is seriously like the greatest Banshees release ever. The fact that they had 30 singles and managed to release 51 b-sides as well is amazing. Right now I'm just trying to get all of the 12" singles, and I might look for UK pressings of the albums afterwards, but I'm holding out in hopes of remastered vinyl releases.

I do have all of the music from both bands, just mostly in CD format. I remember when I first discovered The Creatures - It was such a shock to realize one omy favorite singers had another band!

Do you have the BBC box set? It's three discs and a DVD - a must have! It's all of their BBC studio sessions and two live concerts that were broadcast on BBC, plus a whole DVD of TV appearances.

I just lost an auction for the GiftHorse CDs. There are three, including Murdering Mouth...and then of course the live CDs... (Zulu, Sequins in the Sun, Tivoli). What really upsets me is that I was already a huge fan at the time the fan club stuff was being sent out, and I just neglected to sign up. What was I thinking? These items are too expensive for me right now, though I can't imagine prices getting any lower.

So what are the current holes in your collection? Chances are I probably have it; I pretty much have every 12" single and EP they ever released (and there were a lot of them!) plus a menagerie of 45 singles containing non-LP tracks. Although I don't collect Siouxsie anymore, I do recall the fun I had collecting all of their releases- they made collecting records immensely fun and challenging. They were one of the few bands who released singles just for the sake of releasing a single (which often never ended up on an album), and they always had interesting, if not sublime, B-sides and multiple configurations of singles. Back before the interwebs, there was really no way of finding out what/when something was being released, which was especially challenging being in America. So every time I visited my favorite independent record store, I would beeline straight for the Siouxsie section to see what new surprises awaited me. Fun times. LOL

I was also a big fan of the Creatures. I loved the fact that since neither of them really played tuned instruments, they built these surprisingly catchy, melodic songs using just percussion and a couple of synthesizer notes. Or a few horns. Very avant garde but classic in a strange sense too.

Oh my! Another Siouxsie fan! I'm in a weird place with this collection. I started with the 12" singles mostly because of the artwork, custom labels and the 'cool' factor of eventually having a complete collection. I may collect a full set of 45s, but maybe not. I would like the full set of studio albums on vinyl, but again maybe not. I'm only looking at UK releases right now because the US releases from Geffen don't have the custom artwork on the record labels. I have some Peepshow and Superstition CD singles from years back, but not a lot of interest in collecting the rest of them.

The b-sides are an interesting story unto themselves. I like that they were not album leftovers, but songs specifically chosen to be b-sides because they were unusual, or recorded in the midst of a tour and couldn't wait for the next album to be released.

I love Siouxsie & The Banshees (and The Creatures). They were always outcasts, musically, and didn't care what others thought. I feel they operated with a creative freedom that other bands could only envy, and when Sioux needed a new sound she just started a second band! I love that this band got started because there was an opportunity to perform - they had no songs, so name - and they just did it! Over the years you get to witness their growth as writers & musicians, and the evolution of Sioux's vocal range and ability are magical. From the near-barking vocals of Love In A Void to the sublime vocals of Kiss Them For Me, Siouxsie's progression is admirable.

I became a fan in '92, at the end, and so The Rapture was the only album I got to buy new. I was devastated when they called it quits in '95, and again when Budgie and Sioux divorced and ended The Creatures in 2005. The one solo album Sioux released in 2007 was somber (to me) and really seemed to sum up her entire point of view on the Banshees and Budgie with one lyric on the closing track:

I still vividly remember the SATB Peepshow tour in 1988- perhaps one of the best shows I have ever attended. It was theatrical, spooky and very, very committed, if that is an appropriate descriptor. With her Louise Brooks wedge haircut and dark makeup, she reminded me of Liza Minnelli in Carousel. Oh.... Siouxsie is/was one of those rare performers who just had the most amazing stage presence- whose every move and inflection was perfectly matched by the music. I was convinced they were the coolest band ever when they performed the B-side "Something Blue" - a strange, random choice that was actually the showstopper of the night.

I adored Siouxsie's 2007 solo album and I think "Here Comes that Day" should have been featured in a James Bond movie. But sadly it seems that she just up and disappeared after that album. I wonder what happened?

AWESOME. I haven't been in to any band as much as FM/SN as I am the Creatures/Banshees. If you unload any 45's HejiraNYC, I sure would love to be a part of that w/ Karma. I have a few 45's, but mostly Creatures stuff. There is so much to be had w/ SN/FM-I have never really gone down that road w/ SATB.
I first saw Siouxsie as the Creatures for the Boomerang Tour. I missed her in my own back yard of Santa Cruz, Ca on the Peepshow tour =0( I then saw SATB for Superstition, and have seen Siouxsie in any format possible since. I too loved Manteray, and am sorry to see it didn't go much further. Since the demise of Siouxsie & Budgie, idk what Sioux is going to do. There was a lot of talk about future works, and now there just hasn't been any word =0( Her solo tour was so good and I can still recall that I tried to get to sooooo many dates. lol As much as I love the a sides, I am a huge fan of all things SATB/Creatures b-sides. I too passed up a lot of things when they were being released. So stupid. There is a Creatures official release (later date) and had a live version of Pluto Drive (my fav Creatures song ever) and I never obtained that one. I do have Sequins in the Sun and issues 1-4 of Gifthorse (no cd's I think) but still missing so much. Agggh, think there is a lot of Mac stuff-damn WAY more in SATB I think!
