I was happy with Dave Stewart's production of "In Your Dreams". Whatever the case, I would like to see her continue to explore new territory. Dave Grohl could be very interesting. I'd also like to ponder what direction that someone like Rick Rubin or Mitchell Froome could take her in. If she INSISTS on working with a past producer, what would a Nicks/Iovine reunion sound like? I would be curious.

CASE FILE OF PRODUCERS THAT STEVIE SHOULD AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE:
Rubert Hine, Thom Panunzio, Rick Nowels and Greg Ladanyi (no worry, he passed away). No offense, but I consider their work with Stevie to be representative of an artistic coma. We are currently enjoying a renaissance that I'd like to see continue.

The thing we have to remember about You Can't Fix This is that it isn't just Dave Grohl crafting Stevie's sound... it's pretty much the Foo Fighters & the drummer from Slipknot as well. This is sort of a supergroup song in the way that The Band & Traveling Wilburys were supergroups. If Dave were to produce an entire Stevie album, would it be this incredible? I can't honestly say yes or no. I don't know enough about Dave because I'm truly not a fan of the Foo Fighters. They are one of those bands that's bafflingly overrated in my eyes. But what the boys did with this one Stevie song is just pure magic. I don't have any problem saying it's the strongest, truest to her roots song we've heard from Stevie since Mirage & Wild Heart. If Mr Grohl could coax an entire album out of Stevie with this kind of sound, I might not have a problem never even getting that final Mac album I've so been longing for.

I agree re: the Foo Fighters music. Not a fan of them at all. But if Dave G can work this magic again, then yes, that would be absolutely incredible.

Also I was under the impression that Taylor Hawkins was the drummer on YCFT?

some good points... which reminded me: wasn't Butch Vig and not Dave Grohl a producer on that whole real to reel thing?

I'm a fan of Dave Grohl, and while I would be excited if he produced an album for Stevie, I think she & Dave Stewart have something really fantastic going and I'd like to see them continue working together.

'In Your Dreams' captured everything that I love most about Stevie's past work, while still sounding fresh and contemporary. I want more.

Butch Vig does appear to be in command of the Neve console while they were recording "You Can't Fix This" & the other songs recorded at Dave's 606 Studio during the documentary. I'd bet if he isn't The producer, Butch is at the very least co-producer.

What a trippy ass truly awesome duet that would be^^^That's got my vote. I too think Grohl could do some really unique and new things with Stevie and for Stevie...which is exactly why it's not likely to happen. So in a realistic world, I would vote Dave again just because he's pulled out some really amazing Stevie as of late.

Yeah, Joey Jordison is the drummer for Slipknot and he had nothing to do with the Sound City documentary. However, Jordison is one of the best drummers ever and he is a huge Fleetwood Mac fan, so I would love to see him work with Stevie some day!

That being said, Dave Grohl did a great job with the song musically, but lyrically and vocally there could be some improvements. I'm not a big fan of Dave tho, so I'd rather he not produce her next album. I think Iovine could possibly be the most amazing thing ever or a complete let down.

I would like to see her do an album backed by the indie folk rock group Widowspeak.A band that seems to be heavily influenced by 1975-79 Fleetwood Mac and also that actually gets it right most of the time.

I think Dave Stewart and Stevie certainly have more to explore together and I pretty much view In Your Dreams as the launching pad for further creativity. Now that they've sounded each other out and are clearly comfortable working together, it's time for some experimentation and risk-taking.
If Dave Stewart was not available, then my vote would most definitely go to Rupert Hine. Yes I am a fan of The Other Side Of The Mirror, but I base my vote on his more recent work with the likes of Suzanne Vega (check out her album Songs In Red & Grey for confirmation of his brilliance). One should not forget that their previous collaboration occurred in the late 1980's and was very much a document of that era.

I liked the way he produced "Doing The Best That I Can"! It was haunting and dramatic and really told a story, just like "Long Way To Go" which was dramatic also. I liked Suzanne Vega's "Left of Center" and "Solitude Standing" because they really told a story and because of the melody which was very interesting. Who was the producer of these songs? Is he available? What about Chris Lord Alge?
