I just wrote to Fontana asking why they have posted the song title as "in our own world". Hopefully they'll be more on the ball with other details - they did get the spelling of his name right, but getting the first single title wrong???

The quote is: "And he's got a brand new album coming out that's spectacular. I have to say it's the first album he's done since his first solo album that I love. I think it's brillant." To be fair, Stevie didn't say she didn't like his other stuff - only that she loved the first and loves SWS. I don't know of any past comments she may have had about everything in between though.

But you're right that Lindsey has done this before. I don't think I've ever heard the Down Endless Street demo, but I sure bet it sounds better than what's on the recording, due to his vocal games. Of course, when it enhances the song, like Time Bomb Town, I am for it 200%. I'm also for it, if it's to make up for his singing limitations. But right now, I don't think his voice is limited. When UTS came out, I couldn't have said that. But today, I can. Michele |

i'm with you - love love everything about the song except the sped up voice
- hate that he does that and was really really hoping SWS was the only song with the sped up voice... but maybe it's the whole album?! either way, i'm happy that the song is as great as the live version signaled - but also very happy that we'll have the live DVD version with his great natural voice! ![]() |

Normally, I am with Michele and elle about Lindsey tampering with his vocals. However, for me, his vocals on this song actually lends to the semi-quirky feel of the song. It's like he went back to Go Insane, but still has tinges of OOTC and UTS in there. It's hard to put my finger on it, only that I know it's ONLY a song that LB can do so magically and perfectly. I love it. I want to listen to it more but I am restraining myself.
I am typically someone who prefers LB's songs done live, as I love the realness, the "organic" feel much more than the heavy production feel. But I also feel that Lindsey is one of those few artists who can make two completely different styles of delivery- the heavy production and the intimate/raw- sound so perfectly him. I'm positive this song will be mind-blowing if I heard it live. And Michele knows... Anyway, didn't we sort of feel slightly weird about his vocals when we heard "Shut Us Down" for the first time, but then it sort of grew on us? Or was that just me? lol!

I guess I was the one who SUD grew on. I ended up loving it and probably playing it the most on that Elizabethtown soundtrack. I still hate "Not To Late" though...not that that has much to do with what we're talking about, but as far as my feeling on UTS the album...still love it.

I hate to say it, but I feel like I'm starting to prefer Stevie! I love Stevie but my main focus has always been on Lindsey. There's just so much going on in his songs that sometimes it's hard to listen to. ![]() I feel like this whole post is one big contradiction. I don't know what I am trying to say. I can't wait to hear the album version of Illumination. If that has the sped up voice....I think I'm gonna cry. But I love you Lindsey!!

He does sound like his younger self, but when your current voice has more gravitas, there's no need to go younger. I mean, one of the stand out features of In The Meantime was the way Christine's voice was richer, deeper, more knowing somehow. You don't want to change that.
I think Lindsey's current voice would be more commanding, for IOOT. But it's still a fantastic song. Very happy to have it as a single. Michele |
