“I am writing on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, our 800,000 members and supporters, and other compassionate Americans to ask Slaughterville to change its name — which conjures up images of the violent and bloody deaths of terrified chickens, pigs and cows — to Veggieville, a friendly name honoring a heart-healthy and compassionate alternative to animal corpses,” the letter said. PETA promised to donate $20,000 in veggie burgers to the town school district. However, the town does not have a school district all its own.

Members of Slaughterville's town council amicably heard presentations by members of PETA before voting against the suggestion. More than a dozen people at the standing room only meeting offered opinions on why the town should keep its name. Even with negotiations of stray animal shelters, or a spay/neuter program for low-income Slaughterville residents, the town still rejected the request. PETA, in effort to win the town over, gave away free veggie burgers and information about the vegan lifestyle before the town council meeting. The citizens of Slaughterville voiced their opinion by serving free hot dogs and brandishing signs that read, “Beef: it's what's for dinner.”
Veggieville. Okay, they're all nuts. For sure. Forget the somewhat moderate stance I took earlier.

HAHA! Me too, Arlene!

By the way, you have to milk a cow! It's mean not to milk them! Just a few months ago, here in Ohio, PETA put themselves on giant plastic trays and wrapped themselves in plastic wrap, and laid on the side walks of downtown.........Who knows what the hell they were trying to do.

Of course Slaughterville, OK was named after a grocery store run by James Slaughter in the early 20th century.

A few years ago they were trying to get Fishkill, NY to change it's name. Even after it was explained to them that "kill" is the dutch word for creek, they felt that the name suggested violent imagery to animals. They are nuts. You don't see the arbor society trying to get Bushkill Falls, PA to change it's name because it's cruel to bushes.

That's because the heartless fascists at PETA consider flora to be second class citizens. No one cares for the plight of the PA jaggerbush. No one hears the cries of the carrot or the sobs of the baby bok choy. Ghouls.

A few years ago, PETA protested a circus event in OKC, They used a very beautiful woman dressed (Complete with ears, whiskers and tail) and painted head-to-toe as a Bengal Tiger. She sat inside a cage as this protest began. A local TV crew interviewed the PETA folk when this beautiful lady stood up in the cage, the TV crew filmed her then quickly shot away from this bengal beauty when they realized...

As she was wearing ONLY paint, no clothes. She was arrested for public nudity.

PERSONALLY, being the 'kitty' lover I am, I WOULD have GLADLY had adopted the 'tigress' in the cage had she been available for adoption.

Given that AIDS spreads through breastmilk, this would be a major hazard. I don't know if processing it would kill the disease or not. Ben Cohen seems to be enough of a nut himself, I'm really surprised that they didn't go for this.

Was it $1.00 or did McDonald's raise their price there too? The McDonald's here charges $1.39 for what used to be a dollar. I won't go there now.
