At first I thought that David just made it up, but apparently it is actually a word.

David might be an editor for Merriam Webster and he snuck it in!

2. Christine's songs.
3. Christine's stylish musicianship.

Exactly the same things I liked about her 1984 album.

Here's what I don't like:

1. The style-free musicianship of the others involved.
2. Arrangements that are inchoate or downright inarticulate, with no narrative arc.

Another thing I like about MEANTIME is:

1. Ken Caillat's stylish production.

Unfortunately, none of that on the 1984 album.

What all this means is that Christine's solo albums should be a lot more Christine & a lot less everybody else. Unfortunately, that runs starkly contradistinctively to her personality & inclination.

I bet this is the first post in Ledge history to use the phrase "starkly contradistinctively."

I simply couldn't agree more....

How much of the production was Ken actually responsible for? I thought most of the work was done in Christine's converted barn with Dan. I know some work was done in L A and in London but I kind of assumed that Christine was responsible for the majority of the production.

I don't think Ken had much to do with the production other than the drum & bass parts that were done in CA. Chris said that most of the album was just Dan & her.
