Those magazines had no concept of reality. The more I look back, the more I wonder if the people who write for them even went to high school. I always loved the "How to Get Him to Like You" lists, quizzes, etc. because although I admittedly didn't try all that hard, I could tell that none of that **** would work. |

Magazines are expensive, and generally a waste of money and natural resources, IMO.
The only one I ever subscribed to was The Progressive, when I was...20 or 21. They put me on a bunch of mailing lists, including one for the Socialist Party USA. ![]() Recently, I found out that my 82-year old grandfather (my dad's dad) subscribes to both The Progressive and The Nation. I laughed for weeks after that, because my dad practically worships Bill O'Reilly. |

Visually, Smithsonian has always been good, & National Review at least had a decent film column back when my hero was on staff.

I tamed him down in no time, got him talking, and taught him several parrot tricks. He loved to perform. He was such a big ham. I never realized just how affectionate Moluccan Cockatoos are. He loved to be hugged and petted. The smartest pet I ever owned. He was a handful, but we got along like bread and butter. How he loved french fries. Anyway, after 10 years I started not to have the necessary time to give him, so I donated him to a breeding farm in Napa, where he is happily getting laid. I also hand fed a Green-Wing Macaw from a hatchling to a fledgling. Also a super rewarding experience. So Bird Talk came in real handy. I also used to show my Moluccan at Exotic Bird Shows. He was a really good looking cockatoo and would take home huge ribbons (including a judge's award) and of course lead crystal trophies. Birds are really cool. What do you have? |

I don't like pet birds. I was bitten by my cousin's parakeet as a child.

Right now I just have two little guys. A peach faced Lovebird and a Blue Mutation Parrotlet. They are more than a handful and have personalities like the big birds. No big birds for me for a bit. Maybe some time in the future. I like to give them a lot of time and attention and if I got another, they wouldn't get so much. |

Birds are quite the handful, especially the big birds. If I had the time, I would have one in a heartbeat. They are just amazing companions and so intelligent. And yes, they need a lot attention and time. I've never seen a Blue Mutation Parrotlet. Got a pic? Last edited by Richard B; 11-05-2005 at 03:27 PM.. |
