I love her cd too, hope she will win many Grammies, and that Prince would spoil Usher's party.

Default well..

i'm glad both Loretta Lynn and Alicia Keyes scored multiple nominees. I've had Alicia Keye's "Diary" for over a year, and still listen to it. Beautiful record. And Loretta Lynn's "Van Lear Rose" still spins heavy rotations on my cd player. I love the honky tonk feel to Mrs. Leroy Brown..

"hey driver pull this car..put it right inside the bar..
take it on back to the big old blonde..
that thinks she's a movie star..
i'm gonna grab her by her phony pony tail
i'm gonna sling her around and round..
when she wakes up..
she'll know she met up with Mad Mrs. Leroy Brown.."

i also have to confess.. i really like Ushers "Confessions".. solid r&b.. and I'm gonna go to the record store tomorrow and pick up Green Day's "American Idiot." Sounds like Green Day has a pretty good read on the psyche of the average American.. or is it a read on the presidential election.. sounds interesting.. i need to catch up!

In the General Field, nominees for Album Of The Year include Genius Loves Company by Ray Charles & Various Artists; American Idiot by Green Day; The Diary Of Alicia Keys by Alicia Keys; Confessions by Usher; and The College Dropout by Kanye West.

KANYE WEST AND USHER FOR ALBUMS OF THE YEAR???!

What has happened to the Grammys?

Go Green Day, baby.

I saw these guys at a free concert in early summer, they were great. I also saw them afterward loading their gear into their cars, they would have been totally approachable but I wasn't very familiar with their stuff, just the hit that was playing on radio. They played at the Hatch Shell on the Charles which was a cool place to hang out listening to music in early summer, way to kick it off.

For some reason, Kanye West has been getting many raves from just about everyone...so it's not just the grammies. I personally don't see it. Usher only got an AOTY nomination because consumers made his album go 8x platinum. I doubt he will win, at least I hope not. He's such a gimic...all he does is sing about how much he loves his girl and then takes off his top. And he's such a whiner in every song. It cracks me up at the beginning of "My Boo" when he's talking about how pimping ain't easy, then he breaks into his whiny "Oh how I love this woman" thing. My loathing for Usher grows bigger every day.

The Grammys have sucked for a long time. Ever since Jethro Tull won best Metal Band over Metallica I have disregarded the Grammys as an important awards show.

By the way, I see U2 is in the nominations again. Gee...I wonder if they'll win every category they are in.

I see that Sheryl Crow is nominated again for the hundredth time. I like Sheryl but to be nominated for The First Cut is the Deepest? The song isn't that great and it's a cover too.

Hi, Keith! Look who came out of the woodwork to play! Good to see you on the Ledge again!

Alicia Keys is greatness! I love both of her albums, I listened to nothing but Diary for like a month straight in the car.

I'd rather have a pelvic exam than listen to anything by Green Day....posers....but, the Loretta Lynn album has me intrigued...

I think Kanye West is a grade-A jerk. I've heard a lot of cocky rappers in my day but he takes the cake. His CD is great, but there are a lot of great CDs out there and that doesn't make him the best ever. The fact he made such a stink at the AMAs and publicly denounced Gretchen Wilson for winning the Best New Artist award over him-- what a sore loser.

He's nominated for 10 Grammys and although I strongly dislike Usher, I hope he wipes the floor with him and Kanye gets shut out.

Alicia Keys- "Karma" is a fantastic song and I'd love to see her take home something. But yes, kids, I think Ray Charles is going to win every category he is nominated for.

I really like their new CD so I'd love to see them win something. I doubt they'll win all the categories like "All that you can't leave behind" that album was just a phenomenon.

I'm actually surprised Vanessa Carlton's album wasn't nominated for anything at all...none of the songs...nothing. I'm glad to see Modest Mouse on here though

I wasnt that impressed with the grammy list either but I am glad that Maroon 5 were nominated and I hope they win Best New Artist. I was happy to see Sheryl get another nomination and it looks like she will be awarded with her 10th grammy. I also excited to see Velvet Revolver get a couple of noms along with Sarah Mclachlan.

I have to agree about Usher though. He is really annoying and thinks he is the ****. Please!! I like Kayne West but he can be a total jackass. I think that song Jesus Walks is amazing and sends a great message. I like Black Eyed Peas but dont think they should win Record of the Year. Their music is stuff that I like to dance to but I wouldnt take it seriously enough to nominate it for a grammy. I am still mad that FM got the shaft last year.
