I see the one person who voted Bush didn't expound on why. Shocking.

It is stupid. And it's the only thing preventing me from throwing my hat in because god knows I have all the answers.

Then again, if the Germany had had such a rule in the 1930s, Hitler wouldn't have risen.

Yeah, once I heard that both Kerry and Edwards were both opposed to same-sex marriage, he lost some of my respect. The way I look at it is I'd rather have a President who will work to some form of 'equality,' than one who only mentions the gay community when trying to harvest conservative hate for political gain.

Have I mentioned how much I dislike Republicans? LOL!

LOL! I think we'll stick with the rule.

But seriously, this country was founded by people who came here from other countries (and completely wiped out the original occupants...I'll shut up about that now). It just doesn't make sense why only natural-born citizens can rule a country that is "open" -- and I use that term loosely -- to everyone. Especially when there are such awesome people out there like Teresa.

I'm sorry, I mis-clicked. LMAO -- j/k. Whoever did vote for Bush should at least do it with pride...not many people vote for an idiot again after seeing the damage he's done in four years!

See Art. II, Sec. 1, Clause 5:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

I am fairly certain one of the reasons it was put into the Const. in the first place was so that the King of England could not send someone here and have them elected President. Remember, not everyone living in America was for the Revolution. I think the natural born restriction is quaint, but a little antiquated. Having said that, there is zero chance it will ever be erradicated, esp. not when we have gays trying to marry

Yeah, I agree with you. This is the first election I get to vote in, and I feel like I need to vote. I can't stand the thought of not voting, and I don't want to vote for someone who won't win. So, I must choose between the two, and then the choice is quite obvious for me. I like how you put "equality" in quotes there, since I have to say that it's really this pseudo-equality with Kerry. But it's better than nothing at all.

Plus, Kerry isn't that bad of a guy.

I actually won't get to vote in this election, because I don't turn 18 until December...nevertheless this election has sparked my interest.

I guess I can see the purpose for it 'back in the day...but I don't think it is needed right now. I mean, I doubt Arnold or Teresa are undercover English spies determined to overthrow our government. Well, I'm not too sure about Arnold...lol, j/k.

Thanks for making me feel so welcome, except for that disparaging Republican remark.

I can't help it sometimes. LOL! I live in Texas.

In the end we all know what IS important. It isn't politics or ideals. It's Fleetwood Mac...lol!

Yeah, same goes for Louisiana. There are so many things I'm just so tired of hearing. I feel compelled to make generalizations sometimes. Okay, lots of times.
