I think it's funny to hear people who love WTTR...S say Family Man is crap. Quite ironic, actually. ![]()

Ya'll are making me wanna go listen to Tango!! I adore the album to much. It's tied with Rumours and Tusk as my fave FM album. LOL If I HAD to rank them....Rumours, then Tango, then Tusk. I don't care how d**** it sounds or whatever, I LOVE it!!

To me, Stevie's British accent is most pronounced on Amber: "You've a daughtuh..." - Jake

I love TITN.....McBuck at their finest.
I don't like WTTR...S and WISYA because of Stevie's vocals. I love her, I really do, but during that period her voice was shot. I don't like the lyrics all that much to WTTR...S but a better vocal would have made it more tolerable. I think her vocal on Seven Wonders is atrocious as well, but the song is so damn catchy. I love it, even though I shouldn't. |

I think there is more structure in a pile of dog**** than "Welcome To The Room... Sara" IMHO.
Having said that, I think "Family Man" is one of Lindsey's weaker numbers too (athough the guitar and song structure is fine). Tango is essentially, for me, Christine's album although the original "Big Love" is my favorite track. ![]() |

1. it's not a "jumbled mess", it's just the 'untamed' nicks. unlike silver girl, or say you will, this is one of her more raw stuff. 2. yes, it doesn't have a hook, heck, it doesn't have a chorus even! but actually, it's quite bold if you ask me, and besides, this song connects with Sara, which doesn't have a chorus either despite being 20 minutes long. 3. you sound to me like those old purists who go "oh... those 'modern artists' they can't even sketch properly, that's why they create such abstract paintings", that's funny, ms. nicks is a skillful, professional and award-winning songwriter, it's not like she "forgets" a chorus or a hook, there are times (such as wttr...s) when her writing's SO brilliant, that she doesn't even NEED those. she's in fact singing a poem and not a song, which i think is truly admirable. 4. in fact, i did use this song a coupla times as an example for people who claimed FM or SN's music to be shallow or too commercial, and usually it worked.

![]() Anyway, of Stevie's three 'Tango' songs, I'd say that "Welcome To The Room... Sara," is my least favorite. Though I certainly don't hate it by any means. Yes, it's unstructured and offbeat... but then, I thought that "different" was supposed to be a good thing? ![]() And hey, at least it's not "just another love song" thematically. ![]() I think it's moving when taken in context, but I can see why it would be off-putting to the casual listener. But when I first heard it (as a very new fan), I was totally intrigued because I had no idea what she was singing about... so that lent a mystery to the song, which had great appeal for me. I actually usually prefer when a song's meaning is rather enigmatic, rather than be hit over the head with it... and that's yet another reason Stevie's songs have always had so much appeal to me. Even the more straight-forward songs have their element of mystery. I think "WTTR...S" is one of those "love it or hate it" kind of songs, and it just all has to do with what appeals to you, or what you look for in a song. ![]()

Proving once again that, while I may be a "Stevie Defender," you are the great Lindsey Defender. ![]() Seriously though, I find appeal in both songs... "Family Man" is spunky and good plain fun, and "WTTR...S" is funky and striking. ![]()
