And part of the story I heard was that he in fact was given them... but with the condition that he pay back the person that fronted the purchase. The initial buyer took out a loan from a family member - passed away - left them to Bill and Bill took out a loan and paid off the source of the cash. That could be total crap... It's just what I had heard.
They first started making the rounds in late '00, then got more wisespread by the summer of '01. The first ones to be circulated were the Julia reels and the Dealer reels, along with a few other others like Lady From the Mountain.

I, too, was told the same story (only they were given to him by a friend, not a family member), but I just have to question the validity of it. I mean, by all accounts, Bill isn't a very big Mac or Stevie fan (but big enough to make loads of money off of them and their fans). Why would a casual fan agree to pay off the reels AND transfer them to disc? What kind of bank gives out a $30,000 loan to some schlub just to pay off the bill for copyrighted music reels? AND - hasn't it been paid off by now, what with his procurement of $100,000 and all? Why does he and his minions harrass people who want to trade htem and say that he won't transfer any more of them? Maybe because he doesn't want to see his source of income go kaput? It is utter crap.

Default Suckers!

The whole selling and trading demos thing has been a subject unresolved for years. Baby Crap! I’ve been watching a few Mac/Stevie fan boards for years and seldom feel the need to respond because its just an information thing for me. Every board has its band police. Those people that send up they’re cloud of smoke thinking they speak on behalf of the band. These police are either greedy, jealous, or lack the ability to see although the artists love to perform it all comes down to money. You can bet these same police bought a lot of what they have in they’re collections but can’t be honest enough with themselves to admit it. They sell too but only to those that fit comfortably into the paranoid little fan world they’ve created. I enjoy the members that say, “Don’t buy what will be freely circulated.” I’ll bet most of them are still waiting to find a copy of something that’s been sold for years. Try posting a thread requesting members to trade and they come in flocks. LOL You can still find traders, but if you want it and have the cash the sellers are out there. You’ll get a few nasty e-mails from people wanting to turn a simple request into something they take a pill for but don’t let they’re psychiatric problems become yours. Id sell copies of everything in my collection and wouldn’t give a damn what anyone else thinks of it because I’m running my own life however I don’t have the time. Another thing is the people saying some industry FBI agents will be showing up at your door if you sell is a joke. They were probably busted for not having a bell on they’re bicycle at a young age. Corruption in the music industry is still going on and always will be. Open your eyes and your wallet but be prepared to be ripped off a couple of times SUCKER! You have to play the game if you want a quality collection. Sell on Bill and laugh all the way to the bank. With this said’ “Let the games begin and may the ones with the biggest toys win.”

I've spoken with people who have paid $15 for CDs, then some who ahve paid $20, and now you say you paid $10. Seems to me that it varies from person to person. But, I suggest that the newbie sout there email him for a list and prices, you'll get an email back with the list and the price of $20 per CD. Or, I could just post the one I got way back when, when all this **** started.

As for the rest of what you said, you have every right to purchase this stuff, but it seems rather idiotic on your part when most of it gets to the traders immediately anyways.

Forget Bill, I'll sell 'em for $5 per CD, and I won't put just five minutes on each CD; I'll fill them!

Talking

Life is like a box of chocolates. One person builds a bridge over a river that leads to the bank, and another burns that bridge even though the road it was built on is the only way to get back home. I love watching people screw themselves. LOL

Well just remember that at least one idiot willing to pay is needed to enable trading
