Here is some new information I received about the reels. This came from a very reliable friend who I trust completely, so I believe it is accurate.

Bill does in fact own the master reels. He and a group of Stevie fans have been paying to have the masters baked and transferred to disc. I believe they have been paying for them out of their own pockets. Bill is not a bad person and I've been told that he isn't even that big of a Stevie fan. He has a personal and emotional stake in the reels.

I believe everyone in the group has been told not to trade their copies until everyone in the group receives their copies; they live all over the country. It's not clear on whether or not they will trade the reels that everyone is in possession of. If you would like to purchase copies of the masters from Bill, you should do so. He has been called a very honorable and reliable person to deal with and if you decide to buy them, no one is making a profit. All of the proceeds reimburse the price of the master reels. The reels were purchased for $30,000.

However, I understand that not everyone has the funds to pay twenty dollars per CD. The economy has gone to **** in recent years and even twenty dollars is expensive. Only buy them if you can afford to, if not, wait a little while until they begin to circulate.

So, if you decide to purchase because you have the money or can't wait, do so with confidence; he's perfectly fine to deal with.

Also, I've been notified that the person(s) who sent bitchy emails to people who traded for the masters just might be cut off from receiving any more of them. And with good reason.

Of course, any new info I get will be posted here immediately!

Thank you very much for posting that, dissention.
I always think it's very important to hear "both sides of the story," and the holdout on mass-trading these masters makes sense now, and is understandable.

$30,000?! Crikey!
