YES! That was an incredible comeback, especially since the officials all but tried tried to hand the game to Brazil on a silver platter.

I couldn't care less about the U.S. men's team, but our ladies are brilliant.

That equalizing goal was one of the most beautiful plays of this tournament. And then Hope Solo's save during the PKs was amazing. She's a beast!

I'm the same way. I could take or leave our men team but the women are amazing.

I am the youngest of five kids (the oldest being 14 years older than me) and I'm the only one to graduate college. Two of my brothers didn't even finish high school. I've always been there for my family and held them in the highest regard, never judging their choices in life. Rather I've considered us all individuals with our own unique paths of life, each of us following our own destiny. However I learned today that all four of them resent me for some reason. They believe I had a much better life than them and was given some great opportunity they never had. I don't understand tho. I worked full-time while going to school, and neither of my parents gave me a dime for school. I was the one left footing the $50,000 bill all by myself. I was the one in class every day. I was the one studying all night long in order to pass. I worked hard to get where I am, yet they all seem to disregard it as luck and blame me for their problems. It reminds me of a line in the TV show Damages: "You try to lead by example and they want you to lead and then they resent you for it. They put you on a pedestal, look up to you and then blame you for the crick in their necks." Anyone else relate?

Student loans mostly, which I still have to pay. And thank you!

You've accomplished a lot! As for your siblings being resentful and saying you had it so much better than them, I've seen that a lot in families where there is a big age difference between siblings.
Maybe you should ask them for specific examples of what things they feel were so much harder for them. It's possible that your parents could have been different with them. When they were young parents, it's easy to think they made mistakes. By the time the last child comes along, parents are typically more easygoing.

Reminds me a little of my own situation. I'm made to feel inferior to my brother because he chose to jump straight into a career as soon as he left High School (He's team manager at a company that makes medical equipment and prosthetics), whereas I chose to stick with education and proceed with something I was passionate about. My Dad refuses to believe that being a full time student on a Batchelors Degree Course is any kind of work, and doesn't miss any opportunity to bring up my Brother's successes. I'm not knocking my Brother at all, because where he lacked in educational drive throughout school he makes up for in commitment and effort in his career, which is a good thing because he could have easily followed my cities trend of joblessness, alcoholism and drug addiction. It's my Dad who makes me feel worthless for it. Nothing I've ever done has ever been good enough for him.

On a side note, I adore my new toy I bought myself today :-

I hope it goes well for you! Even if it doesn't work out on a "relationship level", people can never have enough friends. So I hope you work together famously either way

Good idea. Remember that your siblings' resentment is about them and not you. They are projecting their failings onto you to abdicate responsibility. Success and happiness are the best "revenge"!

Your father is behaving ignorantly. His assessment of your worth has nothing to do with your actual worth and has more to do with his own selfishness and shortsightedness. Again, success and happiness are the best revenge! You are so going to prove him wrong. Hang in there!

Exactly. I know someone who makes nasty comments about people who she thinks make more money than her. Hey, nobody MADE you quit school & work a low-paying job for 20 years, honey. Your decision - now you have to live with it. No need to belittle someone else's accomplishments because you're pissed you aren't doing as well.

You think things are going to get better. But then something happens to just prove to you that any faith you had was flawed. And the one person who took it away is too blind and self centred to understand the heartbreak they've caused.
