After a month, I am still hooked. I usually don't skip any of the songs, except occasionally "Cheaper Than Free."
Love: For What It's Worth In Your Dreams Wide Sargasso Sea Moonlight Annabel Lee You May Be the One Italian Summer Like: Secret Love New Orleans Soldier's Angel Everybody Loves You Ghosts are Gone Ok: My Heart Cheaper Than Free |

I swoon at the thought of Stevie and Leon growling together on stage.

I love that line BECAUSE there's no special arrangement. It's simplicity makes it feel more genuine to me... it's almost like I wouldn't believe that she truly felt that it saved her life if the music was more complex and that line was a "peak" of the song. It feels like an intimate confession, whispered to us instead of shouted. She doesn't need to force that line to stand out beyond the rest-- it does it on its own.

I'm happy that so many Ledgers consider IYD one of Stevie's top 3 albums. It's a little frustrating though that albums with a sentimental attachment automatically outrank everything new. Basically for many of you Stevie will never top BD or WH or RAL because of how those albums remind you about a certain time of your life. This is where music critics can actually be valuable (in a way) because of being able to be outside of that emotional attachment to the music. Put another way: It's perfectly legit to identify albums as one's favorite (where the emotional attachment comes in) versus which albums are the "best" (where, IMO, emotional attachment can cloud one's judgement). |
