No I meant the wallpaper. Meaning that she could come out with wallpaper with her drawings, poetry, whatever and we'd all buy it.

Every time I buy a black ink cartridge the lyric "black ink darkness" plays in my mind. Then it is changed to "all around black ink cartridge" which is funny to me.

So to make a long story short I'm on this beautiful little island in the middle of The Bahamas and I can't stop thinking about the song Maker of Birds since Mike I read that poll a few hours ago Mike posted. Well I've had an epiphany of sorts (pls ignore spelling as there is no check on this comp). As most of you probably know in the many interviews Stevie has been doing to promote IYD she's mentioned on several occasions that this was unlike any other album-making experience because she actually had a wonderful, joyful experience doing it and hanging out with everyone at her house having fabulous dinners every night as opposed to sitting alone at her piano drinking wine/brandy and feeling sorry for herself. I'm sure that she recoginizes as we all do that some of her best work was done in this state but that she has evolved and she's not in that heartbroken/tragic place emotionally that she once was and I think that's great. That's how we should all be as we age, especially by 63. I think it's a part of life and the natural flow of maturity.
Finally, my point - I'm still in that dark, brooding place she was when she was my age (WH era) and I think that is part of my dissapointment with IYD - that element is missing.
It's funny, when we all first posted our initial thoughts on IYD I was one of the few to not fall in love with it immediately and one person who shall remain nameless pointed out that Stevie has changed, and perhaps I have not changed and that I need to and for some reason that comment has stuck out in my head. I don't know if the response was to me directly or just to everyone in general and possibly I took it the wrong way but maybe he/she is right and I can't stop stewing over it. Stevie has changed and I need to change, if not for myself, for the world. O.k. enough weeping willow stories (I'm esp. emo today). I hope my ramble wasn't totally pointless although as I re-read this post it seems so. On that note I'm going to lay by the ocean and listen to Beauty and the Beast, HAEWAFY, and Love Is, just kidding!
P.S. I do have a whole new appreciation for IYD after hearing the songs live!!

@sapphire.....I totally understand what you mean. I didn't hold it against u at all when u said you weren't in love with the cd. And now, it all makes sense y.

One of the many reasons y I fell in love with this amazing woman is becuase at the time I was going thru heartache and I felt her words...totally related! I'm not in that place anymore. I've changed for the better and now I feel her joy. I do often place myself back into that space, listen to her, and cry. It's cleansing to me to do so.

Anyhoo luv, no worries! Listen away......you're loved!

I think you might be on to something. Stevie has grown. She has changed. I'm sure she'd say for the better. I find lots of wisdom and enlightenment in IYD and hopefully you can too. I'm closer to her age but I'm not a woman. I still relate to some of her feelings, where she's coming from. Maybe with age comes insight? I bet Stevie would be happy to know you can take from it what you need at this time in your life and change for the better sooner than she did. She always says she tells her stories about herself to teach a lesson, so other young girls/women who admire her won't have to suffer through what she did before she got her act together. Being emotionally tragic and heartbroken all the time might work for art. It's no way to live an amazing and wonderful life.

Kinda OT, but not really.......I hate the new Mary J Blidge. When she got high, was going thru it w/ her ex and had other issues, I think her music was better. I don't hear any pain in her voice anymore. I haven't bought anything since she's in a better place. Do u think that's wrong of me?

You wouldn't happen to be the guy at the Wiltern show that was going to ask Stevie to marry him on camera and I butted in to give you my ring (since you forgot that part) and said that I was going to marry her (not you) if only gay marriage was legal in Cali? Just seems to kind of go with "Mr. Stevie".

And yes, back to tragic Stevie and changing, believe it or not I think I have learned some lessons about life through her music and have indeed changed as I am able to see things she's gone through from my perspective of course and truly believe her poetry and stories are kind of the soundtrack to my life thus far. And yes, that is one of the reasons Stevie writes. So we can each have our own stories to relate to her songs even though she's writing them from her own perspective. Ultimately that's what she wants.

I thought Stephen King put it so well when he said that 'Art is a support system for life, not the other way round.'

And I also wonder if there's a paradox or double-bind in the fact that Stevie had so much fun making IYD, and it's this: because it was happy time, it reinforces her mantra that it's sensible to not have a life-partner because her work is so fulfilling - and yet, surely there are but a handful of years in which that can possibly remain true? And what then? What if (God forbid) something happened to Mick or Lindsey? What if Dave falls off the face of the earth?

Going into her mid-60s, and on the back of changing her mind about co-writing - and maybe even the Internet - I'd love to see Stevie changing her mind about whether she has to be single, and giving the next guy who comes along a chance! Even if he's young, even if he's poor, even if he - gasp - doesn't look like a f**king troll!

I know I'm a sap, but I just hate to think of her being lonely in her old age.

He was a trip! We met in line and I told him I was already her husband and that he was too young for her. I remembered he was wearing that T-shirt "Mr. Stevie Nicks." I grabbed onto the handle MrStevie since it wasn't already taken. I am her husband anyway, so. No, really I was there with my fiance so it would have been a little hard for me to propose to Stevie. Besides, I think she might already be taken.

Random Stevie thoughts:

Sometimes if I see or hear a particularly emotional performance from Stevie (shich is pretty much every song she's ever sung) I have the urge to give her a big hug and tell her everything's going to be ok.

Also, when I see interviews of Stevie when she was younger and now too I can't help but think that she would make an awesome big sister!! She just seems to be able to empathize with people very well and her sense of humor whether intentional or not is killer!!
