Oh yes it was a single in the US unfortunately. I remember hearing it on the radio quite frequently and not wanting to admit to anyone that I was a Fleetwood Mac fan.

I never heard Oh Diane in peruvian radios. I do remember Can't go back, and I liked it. I always thought the Mirage singles were Hold me, Gypsy, and Can't go back (I guess I heard Love in Store, but not as frequent as those 3).

Love in Store was pretty popular. It peaked at like 21 or 22 on the charts and was played everywhere for about a month or two. I remember it was one of the "lip synch" features on solid gold, too.

I didn't hear Can't Go Back til I bought the album. Never heard it on the radio.

I thought "Oh Diane" was just a UK single? Regardless it didn't chart in the US.

I guess my main point was that when compared to other Rumours era albums Mirage had the fewest singles that made a strong impact on the charts. FM did rebound greatly with Tango in the Night close to what the Rumours album itself did, at least where singles are concerned - in my opinion.

From the "Oh Diane" wikipedia article...

In the USA, another track from Mirage, "Love in Store", was released as the third single instead and was a moderate success. "Oh Diane" was therefore the fourth single issued in the US; it was released in February 1983, but it failed to chart.

Yeah 5 weeks according to wikipedia. Five weeks is a very good run and could have been longer had the tour not be so short, as pointed out by Mick in his book.

#22 is quite respectable, in my book. It is an awkward intro though, for a hit. Was there a radio remix?

Agreed.. sure wished they would have made an Ohio stop that year.. they were blowing up the radio for a long time w/ Mirage

The Chain boxset offers an alternative version with a slightly extended ending (John doing some great bass work) but the opening is the same there, too. I don't mind that drum kickstarting the song. In fact, I love it. And the song is my favorite from the album. When all three of those voices harmonize on the chorus I feel genuine excitement.

Mirage definitely needs the same treatment that was given to the first three Fleetwood Mac albums with Lindsey and Stevie....REMASTERING!!!!! The sound on the cd is atrocious not the material, that's for sure. There is a lot nuance to the tracks that gets lost due to poor mastering.

Also shocking is that Mick, or any of them for that matter, do not realize the plethora of money to be made if they release some older shows on DVD.

I always thought it was unfair to Lindsey and Stevie that many often credited Christine with writing the lionshare of the bands hits when she had co-writers on Hold Me, Love in Store, Little Lies, Save Me, Skies the Limit, Got a Hold on Me, etc.

That's a fair point. However, it's her unique voice that people really loved in my opinion. She was an excellent melody writer and loved hooks. She defintely wrote for her voice. I believe one of the main reasons Christine loved to co-write was to mix things up a bit. She was completely capable of writing on her own, Oh Daddy, Songbird, YMLF, Don't Stop, Say You Love Me, Over My Head, Everywhere, Spare Me A Little, etc.

To be fair Lindsey and Stevie often have co-writers too. Richard Dashut, Sandy Stewart, M. Campbell, Benmont Tench, Cory Sipper, Gordon Fordyce, Tom Petty, Christine McVie (w/ LB)... to name some..
